That's not how this works, it was decided in the first civil war that's not something a state gets to do via violent insurection.
They have to come ask the rest of the states for permission to do that.
I have a feeling if they did? If they had some compromise that didn't cut anyone off from the major oceans/great lakes...that means there would be a little give and take on both sides, I seriously think we'd let them go. There are a bunch of different ways we could carve that out but I don't think it would be that hard of a sell to let a few major chunks go to the loony toonz left so the rest of the country could get on without them.
But if they send their police/NG to fight ICE?? That's going to be grounds for a 1st class S tier beat down.

Some states are failing or refusing to do basic functions of state government. A federal card might be tried as an improvised temporary solution, but the long term trend is still a pendulum swing from excessive and unsustainable federal bureaucracy back to state and local government. Without the cheap energy used to make plastic cards with digital information, we may be dropping ID cards entirely.
