[Many Feathers]

Well, here's a few pics you'll hopefully enjoy. (And not telling ya which one's are the naughty ones...guess you'll just have to look until you come across them.) *grin*

These first are going up to Dead Horse point.

You'll notice a road far down below. That's called the Shaffer trail, and we'll be traveling on it a bit later.

Now we're going in to Arches National Park


Second and third photos are at balanced rock.

And of course Delicate Arch. We had to take the shorter route and just go for the scenery shot at a distance. I have to keep reminding myself that Mieke's only been out of her wheel chair for a little over a year now, so the fact she even made some of the hike's she did is still pretty amazing. The 3 1/2 hour hike up a steep grade to delicate arch just wasn't a possibility at the moment. But it was still cool even seeing it from this perspective.

The last photo is the hike back down from that vantage point.

Amazing some of the flowers blooming in the desert this year, more color than I have seen in a long time there.

And another one of the arches we were able to hike too.

Photo 645 is Elephant rock. The photo doesn't do it justice, pretty amazing how much it really looked like an Elephant.

Photo 647 is the Wisemen. Once again, pretty remarkable. So many formations looked so amazingly carved.

Some of the ancient Indian writings you can find down there. Here, we've just started our trip up the Shaffer Trail which is about 60 miles of rough Jeepin road, and high steady climbing down into the gorge, then out again. But a beautiful journey.

Here's one of the Salt mines found along the trail as we begin the journey up.

672 is a look back as we head up, (leaving the easy road)

675 following along the edge of the Colorado river (which you saw earlier in the other photo from dead horse point)

678 a breath taking view below (Mieke was a bit nervous through here...lol)

680 The road gets rougher as we continue

Mieke's walking behind as I travel up this next part of the road, getting a bit tricky through here (and you have NO idea how high we are). Beautiful...

We then park on an overlook (cliff ledge) for a bit of a breather...

Looking back now at where we've been and how far we've come.

Posing in front of Canyon Lands overlook bright and early in the morning.

Beautiful scenery here.


Oh yeah...and the overlook was magnificent too.

I love the Four Corners area. Didn't have time for Moab or Arches, but I did see Natural Bridges. It rocked.

I totally agree. Incredible views.

That Atlas pose you id was great, and I must say the pose Mieke did reminded me of Sisafus.....but thats just ther legend nut in me coming out.


The Canyon views were wonderful.....although the second one seemed to have more PEAKS than canyons.

Love that country. Spent a night in Moab once on my way to New Mexico. Strolled for a while in Arches. Checked out the petroglyphs at Newspaper Rock. Wished that I had had longer to linger.
