Jeweled Quest

Cawyn

Watching silently as Mali went to Joni I too moved, walking from the edge of the forest towards the group. My pack slung over one shoulder, knowing I would have to at least get to know someone while on this quest I decided to introduced myself to Awni first.

Clearing my throat first so as not to startle her. "Greetings." I said sibilantly. It had been too long since I had had to try and get to know someone for me to say more than that.

Awni

She stared at the vision before them all. She was the most beautiful woman she had ever seen. But then again Mali was a goddess, and they were meant to be. Or so she thought. She stood up slowly from her position on the ground and leaned against the log.
It begins.
She felt herself tremble with excitment. This was a new begining, and soon she would be on her own quest. She held her tongue, saying nothing. She didn't have permission to speak, and so she wouldn't. She hurried to sit back down, where she was supposed to be. Waiting.
She kept her eyes on Mali, never really looking away. Waiting for her instructions, something to tell her what she was to do. Her heart raced with excitment and a little fear of the unknown. She wasn't sure what would happen in the future, but she wanted to know.
She finally did speak up, her voice awed and whispered a little,
"Greetings Goddess, welcome." She felt a little stupid, but didnt know what else to say?

She heard a voice to her side and turned. "Hello Gawyn, I am Awni. Nice to meet you." She whispered so not to disturb Mali's words.

HECATE

"Hello Mali, we are here to serve you"

Hecate spoke with downcast eyes, feeling too insignificant to look her in the eye. Seeing Awni out of the corner of his eye gave him a warm feeling of belonging.

Awni

She caught Hecate's eyes, and smiled warmly. A friendly wordless greeting. Turning back to Gawyn, she reached out and took his hand, tugging him down beside her.
She hurried and whispered to him, "I think we should either kneel or sit. Show respect, I believe. Not to sure here, but you are here for the quest aren't you?"
She didn't turn to meet his eyes, merely looked at Mali and Gawyn who was kneeling before the goddess. She heard a rustling to her side, and watched as more people poured from the murky lushness of the forest. All coming in to either sit or kneel before Mali. She smiled a little, soon it would begin!

Zunidar

Seeing Mali's enterence, Zunidar was drawn to her immediately, somehow instinctively knowing that his fate was tied to hers. Walking over, he sat down and crossed his legs, waiting for information about their quest. As he observed the others he realized that many of them seemed to be as lost as he was. He wracked his mind trying to think of what use he could be to this goddess that seemed to be in control. Lacking fighting skills and not being especially attractive or well-spoken, he realized that his part in this adventure may not be a traditional one. His calling must be for another reason. Sitting quietly, he waited for events to unfold....

Shom-ani

As everyone moves in, I decide that I, too, must join them. I move into the clearing and sit down just at the edge of the firelight, ready to flee back into the forest if need be.

New guy?

OOC:Hope I'll get to join.
Mohombi
A tall dark skinned warrior who knows the jungle as the back of his hand.

IC: Mohombi saw fire up ahead and said to himself:
"Damned foreigners. Why must they always camp on my turf."
He walked closer and saw the whole party which still hadn't noticed him.
"Take caution" he said and they all startled "for you are reciding on my turf.""Give me a sacrifice or be prepared to be slain".

OOC:A sexual sacrifice is what I have in mind so you won't be sending your charaters to their death.

Jem

Jem watched the new woman enter the clearing, and for a moment he forgot to breathe. She was beautiful...

He found himself staring, which he never did. He lowered his eyes, embarassed. Then he heard her voice. It was the most beautiful sound he had ever heard. As he listened, he felt his confusion and doubt leave him. Her words seemed to speak directly to him, as well as to the others. Finally, she introduced herself.

Mali...

Before he was aware of what he was doing, he found himself kneeling before her, ready to listen to anything she said, if only to hear her voice again.

Shattenjager watched the others as they sat and knelt before Mali, and strode over, remaining standing as he pressed his right fist against his heart and bowed his head in respect

"Honour to serve, Mistress."

He kept his head down, his eyes averted out of respect.

Joni 'Jet' Black

All I could do was stare at the woman they addressed as goddess. The woman who so gently cradled me. She was not my mother, yet that is the feeling I got from her. It reminded me of the times mother would soothe my night-fears when I was a child. Yet there was also another feeling - a feeling of familiarity, and as I looked at her, I remembered my mother saying the same thing had happened to my father before me. What had happened? I did not know, but I knew I would honor this woman and serve her, as he had it seemed.

Mali

ooc: My apologies for my lax in posting.

I watched them curiously, noting each bent head, each knee they took, each humble eye. That would not do at all...

I released Joni with a smile, and gathered my skirts closer to my body. With a slight bend of my own head, I sat with them on level eye. "You will learn this, if nothing else, my Destined. I am in service to you. Each of you, in your own way, holds the future of our world. Who you are, what you will become: you are our people. You are Aris."

"I am here to guide you, to watch your progression, but I will not decide your Fate. You and only you have that power. Never forget this."

I rose again, and stood in the center of their group. "Touch my skirts, my Destined, and we will begin."

Hands reached toward me, some tentative, some strong and sure. The Mysts of Power swirled around them, and me, and the glen began to fade from our eyes. The ground left our feet, and as they traveled, I spoke to them again.

"Fear nothing for I will be here, even if you can't see me. You just have to ask for me, and I will return to you."

The Mysts fled, and exposed their new world, a tropical, warm jungle lush with animals, plants, and possibilities. "Travel north..."

ooc: I apologize for the mass abduction of your characters, but I wanted to assure that no other interruptions calling for "sexual sacrifices" occured. To those reading, there will be no more characters accepted to this thread unless you can PM me, and convince me that your character is needed. However, there will be no more Destined roles available. Thanks for everyone who has joined in. :) Enjoy!

Gawyn

Blinking at the sudden change in light levels he let his eyes adjust for a moment. Again he took in his travelling companions, still holding onto Awni's hand. Looking back to her finally he half-whispered, "So I guess we head north...."

Moving to his feet he helped Awni to her feet, while waiting for the others to do the same.

Awni

One moment they were all in the clering and the next somewhere else?
"Wow" Her voice awed, Mali had vanished but promised she was there if needed.
"Head north?" She picked up her nap sack, and turned.
Gawyn still held her hand, She smiled warmly at him.
"Yes, she said we are to head north."
She turned to look at everyone with them in this tight circle. Some looking around to asses where they were, and others curious, if not frightened. She was too, frightened that is. She did not know what to expect any more than anyone else did here. But she was also looking forward to the adventure of it.
"Should we all stick together as a group?" She wasnt sure what to do next. She wasn't electing herself as the leader here, she was responcible for herself first and fore most. Saner that way. Well she would help all those who needed her, she just wouldn't boss anyone around.
Gawyn helped her to rise, she smiled, "Thank you." She glanced around at all the lush green around them. This was a beautiful place, very interesting. Birds of all colors and shapes flew or sat here and there. A miniature white tiger lazed near by in a tree. It couldn't be any bigger than a kitten for the spieces, but beautiful. She let go of Gawyn's hand and approached the little cat. She almost reached out to touch it, when she realized she shouldnt. She turned back after one last glance and stopped next to Gawyn.
"Well I'm ready, are you?"

Jem examined their new surroundings. This was no longer the forest he knew, the forest in which he had spent most of his life. For a moment he felt completely lost. Once the shock of what had just happened wore off, though, he remembered Mali's words. Travel north...

He looked to the north and saw only jungle, no different from the surrounding jungle in any other direction. But their destination... their destiny... whatever it was, lay in that direction. A sudden desire to explore this strange new place came over him.

"I'll scout ahead," he said to whoever was listening.

Valentin

You would think that if the gods wanted me to make it somewhere they would at least make it easier to get there. Weather, a band of raiders stumbled upon and a jealous husband of whom I had no ideas of existence while I was staying there, slowed my trip.but finnaly I made it to the glen in my dreams, where I learned something ...as Mali said...it was for me to choose my fate , Id best quit relying on gods to get me where Im going and keep up with the rest of the party.

I substituted a walking stick for my lyre and gently wrapped it and placed it in my pack. I prepared to leave, when I discovered we already had. I tried to not look as shocked as I felt.
some one suggested north, which in truth sounded sensible, as well as the suggestion of sticking together. As yet another darted off to scout ahead he realized he didnt know any names...this would not do , for epics such as these would have to be sung someday...and for that we must have names...

He glanced back at where he saw her last. Honestly, he had wanted to talk to her. This had to be a big mistake, just had to be. This was someone else's destiny, someone else's journey. He was taking it for them. He had just found the jewel on the ground, he wasn't even born inside the village.
That old man though, he was so certain.
No, he was only certain because of the jewel. The emerald held the fate, not him. He had just picked it up accidentally.
He wanted to tell someone else, but the only other people around seemed to be journey travellers as well. He couldn't tell them, he had no idea who there were.
Best to just keep quiet for now, and wait for Mallory or Mal or whoever to return. She would fix up this misunderstanding right away.
Everyone else was travelling north. Not wanting to lose them, he followed in behind.
Jungle?
Where in the hell were they?

Shattenjager raised an eyebrow as the people wandered off in various directions

"Alright... just to make sure, do any of you know which was is North? Because if you do, I would suggest that those people lead, before we all get utterly lost."

He leaned on his staff, looking at the sky, trying to determine which way was north

Awni

She reached into her sack and pulled out her compass.
"That way is north.." She pointed just over Shattenjager's shoulder. She put her compass away and looked in that dirrection. She could see nothing but tall tall tress and tons of undergrowth. Plant life of every kind and color, smaller trees, and a dead log.
She fell silent, picked up her bag, and smiled to Gawyn. "This way.." She started to walk that dirrection, and paused at the edge of the mass of green.
"Does someone have a weapon we can cut away the vines?" She knew they were need a path of some kind to get through.

Joni 'Jet' Black

"A weapon?" That was one of many words Joni had never heard before, growing up on the remote safety of a farm. "What's that?"

Looking around she could tell that nobody expected. Even through her black skin, the blush could be seen, a blotchy deepening of color spreading up from her simple clothes. Why was she here? She had no idea. Of course, she would serve the goddess, that felt right, but she could not understand what use she could be. Everyone else here seemed to be far more confident than she and... given all she had was a jewel and her clothes, definitely more prepared for whatever was to come.

Awni

She turned to Joni, "Well. A weapon is like a knife. A handle to hold it by and a sharp tip for cutting. I was hoping someone might have something to hack away some of this over growth. Though that would hurt the forest... Perhaps, we just move them out of the way?" Awni herself didn't have anything that would easily work to cut away the vines. And apon thinking about it, she didnt really want to scar the forest either.
"Never mind that idea, We'll just have to stick close together, and work around obsticles." She smiled at Joni, "Hi, I am Awni, Nice to meet you."

HECATE

"I have a machete. We can take turns with it while we travel north. I will take the first turn. Awni, keep pointing the way you are have been annointed as our navigator given that it is your compass."

As Hecate swung a mighty blow at the thick underbrush, it parted easily. He advanced followed by Anwi and the others. The foliage continued to be a scant barrier as they all entered the forest, its canopy enveloped them. The crys of all manner of fauna surrounded them. Yet they felt safe in each other's company. From time to time they switched leaders, trailblazing machete always at the front. Hecate watched out for the others, occasionaly admonishing the younger ones to stay together as they made their way deeper and deeper into the tropical forest.

Awni

She held aloft the compass, and slowly followed the leader. Each person, who was big enough to swing the machete, took turns leading. Awni did not know how long they were to travel north, but they moved along until mid-day. She quietly suggested perhaps they stop to eat and rest?

Zunidar

Following the others into the forest, Zunidar wondered what our quest would involve. The instructions given to them by Mali were rather vague (debilerately, he decided), and many of them were pretty unsure as to what to do. Hecate seemed to have taken charge of the group, leading them north, which Zunidar decided was in their best interests. Hecate seemed to be confident in what he was doing, something that many of them lacked. Walking through the vines, Zunidar heard Awni ask to stop and rest. Agreeing, he suggested that they stop near a small pool up ahead.

As Hecate hacked his way through the vines, Jem went on ahead. The dense jungle would slow the group, but a single person could slip through without much difficulty. Heeding their warnings to stay together, he stayed within sight of the group as he scouted ahead, occasionally climbing a tree to try to see further ahead. He was starting to like this place...

When someone suggested that they stop to eat, he reluctantly climbed down and returned to the group.

Gawyn

Following after Awni he moved with the rest of the group, quietly observing their surroundings. Noting the interesting flora and fauna along the path. With the suggestion that they stop he looked for a nice place to sit. Finding of course a few logs and the rest ground.

Settling next to a log he looked to Awni. "Care to sit here?" he asked, indicating the log. Shrugging off his pack he pulled out his current journal and what looked to be a stick that had been burnt at one end, in addition to his megear meal.
