It is a problem. I wonder if making it a capital offense to sneak into the country would work better than a wall. Of course the wall helps but a few executions would probably slow down the invasion.

I was hoping not to read this. Illegal immigrants, as a whole , are actually welcome because they do jobs that nobody wants to do. I was in a 4* hotel in Denver and nobody spoke English of how to use the kettle. The immigrants have no fault. The main fault are the business that hire without contracts. (black / grey labor). It is much more effective if the Govt find people employed illegally do 2 things: a) severely fine the employer - even temporarily suspend the business, b) deport the illegal immigrant.

Which drives up YOUR costs. Stupid, stupid, stupid), rising housing costs, rising taxes, rising insurance rates, and more. All of that can be tied to ILLEGAL immigration.

Employers will always hire the cheapest labor they can get away with. ILLEGAL immigration pollutes the labor pool and reduces wages for legal workers.

Short term, the answer is to deport illegal aliens regardless of status until their applications can be processed. This includes DACA protectees. I feel for them but they are not legal immigrants and have NO RIGHT to work or remain within the US. Next, repeal the laws which make it illegal to inquire into lawful work eligibility status, then make E-verify fully functional.

Long term is to overhaul the immigration system so that applicants must go to the embassy in their HOME COUNTRY and apply there. Then wait while the application is processed and they are interviewed and background checked before being granted an immigration visa/green card.

Crossing the border is illegal and should be punished proportionally to the threat induced by the crime. Which is fsr less than the capital punishment. Deportation is the solution. Jail not. Jail, according to dogma of the Law serves 2 purposes : remove the imminent threat from the society , b) keep the person in jail to meditate to the crime committed, get an educational programme to be a better person
