It wasn't an often occurrence to find Miss Charlotte Walker throwing back shot after shot, cocktail after cocktail at one of the most run-down bars in town. She was a posh, upper-class woman who had ventured to the States from Australia, not even two years ago.
It was this particular night that Charlotte longed for a disconnection between her physical self and the mind that had been causing her more stress than she could handle for the past couple of days. Her boyfriend of nearly a year and his booming business had recently took a drastic blow in the stock market, in which he took out every ounce of his anger, mostly verbal, on the woman he claimed he loved: Charlotte. He had demanded her out of the house that the two of them shared together; the one that he would soon be losing, due to his economical downfall.
As she swirled the last bit of vodka in the bottom of her glass, Charlotte's mind was just beginning to cloud over, enough for her to escape from the thoughts that had been stabbing at her for days. She tipped the glass back enough to slip every drop into her awaiting mouth, before slamming the empty glass down on the wood surfacing of the bar. "Shoot me anotha, Joe.." Charlotte's words were already slurring together in a near incoherent fashion, her Australian accent not helping in the slightest.
She adjusted in the uncomfortable bar stool, pulling at her skin-tight red dress that hugged her body, revealing her every curve. Charlotte thought of herself as one of the more attractive women in town, and wasn't afraid to flaunt it.
A figure beside her caught her attention as they took the empty stool beside her, but she was too hammered to even meet his gaze, which she could feel was blazing into her.
