Just Like Old Times (closed)

Carroll worked in the kitchen to get the food ready for Raven. He knew she wouldn't be very hungry. At least he didn't think she would be, but he prepared a lot of food just in case she was.

He plated everything and then took a plate of burritos and black beans and rice into her. He wasn't sure why he had made this. It was just something that popped into his head.

"I am not sure how hungry you are, and I am not sure if you even like what I have made, but you need to eat something to build up your strength."

He saw the way she looked at him. "Yea, I know you didn't want to get me involved, but now I am. There is nothing you can do about it. I am in this until the end now. So, if you get shot again, I will be right next to you."

"Tim..."

That was the first time she ever called him by his real name and it felt... good. As if it were more personal. She wanted to argue about it, deny him anything but right now, as much a she didn't want to admit, she did need him.

Nicole didn't finish as she ate what he had made. It was good. The first time she was able to enjoy something in a long time.

Setting the plate aside when she was done, she walked over to Tim and sat down on his lap and wrapped her arms around his shoulders. "Hey...remember the last time we got together? We had a lot of fun remember? Well, I want more of that and I can't do that with you not around. This shit that's happened so far is all my doing. I appreciate all you've done so far and I'm sorry for getting you involved."

He was surprised when she came over to him and sat in his lap. Raven's words surprised him even more. She actually called him by his real name, and she said that she had a good time the last time they were together and that she wanted more of that.

He kissed her softly.

"You are not getting rid of me. I will be right with you... taking care of that hot body of yours."

She saw there was no getting rid of him and deep down, that felt kinda good. It meant she wouldn't have to go about this alone but, it also meant that she'd never forgive herself if something happened to him.

Nicole didn't bother moving from his lap, instead she leaned her head on his shoulders and closed her eyes, "You're impossible," she muttered and relaxed against him.

"I'm in deep shit and for once, I don't think I can fix things."

"Yea, well, you weren't saying that while I saved your damned life, were you?"

Carroll felt her relax against him. It felt great to have her body next to his. No, it wasn't like the last time they were together, but it still felt good.

"Just relax Raven. When you are healthy, we will deal with your issues, but not one second sooner. Use the time here to relax, heal and get your thoughts together. Then, we will plan together."

The next day, Nicole was helping herself to a bowl of cereal. She had dared turned on the news and just as she suspected, there was her face, plastered all over it.

Fuck.

She listened. They said she had been responsible for a death at some night club as well as killing 3 others at some apartment...

Well, fuck again.

Maybe it was all that had happened so far or she really was crazy but all Nicole could do was laugh shut off the TV and sigh. Yeah, this was a fuck mess she was in and if she was to clean it up, she needed to get started now.

She got up and walked with purpose to her room. Opening the walk in closet, she removed a panel on the wall and revealed a tall safe. She entered her code and opened up the safe. Inside she had a stock of arsenal. It was time to get to work.

Carroll saw her go to her room. He had seen that look on her face before. Somebody was in trouble. He just hoped it wasn't him.

He followed her into her room. Seeing her go into her closet and then open a safe. Yep, somebody was in trouble.

"Raven, you need more time to heal. I know you want to make this all right, but you aren't ready. Nothing will change if you just give it a few more days."

Nicole shook her head as she continued to consider which weapons she needed, "No, nothing is going to change...you're right but the longer I wait, the more out of control the situation will be."

She continued to ignore him as she put a few 'items' in her bag and brought it out of the safe and into the bedroom.

"I told you before, you need to stay out of this... stay here. It's the safest place for now." Luckily she had been dressed since her shower earlier in the morning so she was ready to go if needed. She knew Tim wasn't going to let her off this easily.

"NO. I am not going to let you go. Not yet.... and not without me."

He stood in the doorway. Carroll knew that his words were not going to be enough to stop her.

"Give it a couple of days and I will sign off on it. I will be with you through every step of the way. Just give your body a couple of days to heal so that you can give 100% effort.

As much as she wanted to deny it, Nicole knew he was right. Even if she knew she could take him, she didn't have the strength nor the want at that moment. Instead, Nicole sat on the bed and nodded, "OK, fine...I'll wait..."

She felt him staring her down before sitting down next to her. She told him about her assignment and that she had been working on the case for over a year and had just begun to make headway when she was called out by someone on the team she was working with at the station.

Draco had found out and had ordered her hit...and he had to be pissed that she wasn't dead..hence the situation in Tim's apartment.

"That's everything..seems simple really...putting it all into words but in all truths, I need to fix this now."

He listened to her recounting the story. He could feel her getting angrier and angrier.

"I will help you. Just give it a few days. You will not be back to your full strength, but you will be back to where you could take me. I know you would normally have taken me out if I was blocking you from what you wanted to do."

He patted her on the knee and winked at her.

Two weeks had gone by and Nicole was restless. She felt a whole hell of a lot better since that night. She couldn't wait around any longer. With the upcoming holiday, she figured this would be a perfect time to strike back. They wouldn't be expecting it...no, they probably figured she went running...

Tonight, she wanted to do a little recon around Draco's usual hideouts.. perhaps who ever ratted her out would also be there... Besides, she was starting to have cabin fever from being cooped up here so long... even with Cowboy here, it was starting to get to her.

The thing that still bothered her was that she didn't want him to go with her. Even though he was adamant about him going, she was against it. Short of shooting him, she really had no choice. Besides, even if she couldn't admit it out loud, she needed him...

Later that night, over dinner, Nicole spoke up, "I'm leaving tonight, Cowboy."

"Okay Raven. Where are we going?"

Despite the fact that she had been a model patient for the past several weeks, Carroll knew that she was getting restless. He knew it was only a matter of time before she was going to want out of here. He was expecting this.

"You are not going alone. I am involved in this and I am going to see it through. Hell, I need to protect my investment. I don't have a job until we get this shit figured out, so, I am not letting you out on your own. No fucking way."

Nicole ignored his outburst. She deserved it. She hadn't meant to sound like she was going alone...it was just hard to bring someone else into her mess. Standing up from the table, she walked around to his side, pushed his plate away and leaned against the edge in front of him, "Hey, I didn't mean it that way..."

There were few times Nicole showed her 'other' side, the softer side... "I have gone over so many ways to do this alone and each time, I think I might have a full proof plan, it goes to shit."

She leaned down, placed her hands on his shoulders, "So that's why you're going to take me directly to Draco when we show up at his club..."

"Fill me in on your plan Raven. I know that you don't go into any situation without having it thoroughly planned out. So, give them all to me."

He looked right into her eyes. Yes, he was being a little brazen with her...pushing her limits, but he wanted to make sure he knew exactly what the plan was.

He knew that he had just been a medic when he worked with her, but occasions had arisen in which he was an active participant in the mission.

There had been enough opportunities for him to watch her work. He knew just how detailed she was. He wanted to know the plan before the shit hit the fan.

Raven told Cowboy of her plan. It was detailed, right down to the time of what would happen as well as the reactions/repercussions she expected from Draco. When she was done, she looked at Cowboy and waited for him to react.

Sure, it might have involved him giving her up to Draco, and Nicole figured that Draco would let Cowboy go and from there one, she would be the one to handle Draco in her own way.

But all in all, it got Cowboy out of the way and back to safety.

"All you have to do is play along by pretending you hate me and Draco will accept that.... are you in?"

"No, I am not giving you up. I am not walking away from you. Hell, I don't even trust this guy, who, by the way, I don't even know to let me just walk away. If he is as good as you say, he will figure it all out."

Carroll glared at her. He hated her idea and he was wondering what she was up to.

"I am all in with you. I can't go back to my apartment, or my job. So, let's figure this out together."

Oh God, he was going to kill her for what she was about to do.

Ever so causally, Nicole moved toward Tim and straddled him, "Oh baby, I can't chance it..." she said quietly as she kissed him...hard.

Yet, while she was kissing him, Nicole had a taser in her hand and brought it against Cowboy's neck... she continued to kiss him as she felt his body go stiff beneath her.... yeah, he was going to kick her ass but hell..that was fine with her, she just wanted to keep him safe.

Helping him down to the floor as she broke the kiss, Nicole shook her head, "Sorry Cowboy, I need to do this by myself...I've hurt too many already."

And like that, Nicole was gone with her bag of weapons.

The kiss was incredible, and that was before she zapped him.

The last thing he remembered was her lips on his.

When he woke up, he wasn't sure how long he had been out. He had no idea where Nicole had gone, and he had no idea how to trace her.

Then, slowly, his memory started to come back. He remembered a location she mentioned. He couldn't remember what it was in relation to, but it was a place to start.

He gathered himself up, and with only his .40 cal. Sig, he headed toward the location....having no idea what to expect.

Nicole needed to change. She was going to be recognized right off if she showed up like this...jeans and a t-shirt. The one place she figured she could go was to a store but knew she could be ID'd by someone...reports she had heard was that there was still a search on for her...

Her apartment. She needed to head to her apartment.

Luckily her apartment wasn't under watch...at least from what she could tell. Still, she was careful as she made her way inside and grabbed a few clothes and changed. Too much time had already passed but she needed to confront Draco tonight. She needed to find out who the hell sold her out. Did they find her out or did someone sell her out from the police force?

It was then, she heard the cock of a gun and she froze.

Fuck.

Carroll headed to the location that Raven had mentioned. He sat in his car and watched from down the street.... looking for any sign of her.

He waited for over an hour, and then, he started to worry. There was no sign of her. He called her cell, but there was no answer.

He had no idea where Raven lived. He had no idea where to go and look for her. What could he do now?

They were all down.

For once, Nicole was glad for the silencer on the gun...not her gun but the gun of the goon that was sent to kill her.

On the floor of her apartment were three dead bodies.

Well, it was safe to say that Draco was still looking for her.

Quickly, Nicole left her place and decided to head directly to the club. There was no more time to fuck around. This had to be taken care of tonight.

He had no choice but to wait. What else could he do? Hopefully, she would show up there at some point.

Suddenly, he saw movement. Carroll was certain it was her. He got out and moved toward the object he had seen move.

"You are not going in there alone."

Nicole was walking through the alley behind the club. She had her weapon in hand as she stayed against the wall. Although all the focus was up front where the crowd was, she still had to be careful. By now, she was sure Draco knew she was alive if his goons hadn't reported back.

As she reached the back of the club, she noticed a car parked in the alley. She recognized that car from the precinct... that was the captain's car...

Just then, she heard movement behind her and she quickly aimed her gun to the sound of the noise... she cocked the gun and waited...

"Don't shoot me for trying to help you."

He stayed against the wall out of the light in the alley.

"We can do this better together than you can do it by yourself. What is your plan?"
