A closed thread for myself and Eazy.
Had it really been almost 10 years since she was last here? It was funny. They had been friends for what felt like ages... and yet, those years apart were actually longer than they had even been together. She was barely in her teens when she left here, moving closer to her father's job, bounced to another city, leaving behind her school and best friend.
Her mother had despised them hanging out together. Said he was a bad influence. Said a girl her age shouldn't be spending so much time with a boy. People would get wrong ideas about her. April was twelve at the time. She had no idea what her mother meant. They were simply playing games, being kids. So maybe their ideas of fun were a bit... odd. They were simply copying what they saw on television. Every kid did that, what was wrong with it?
The good guy, the bad guy, the damsel in distress...
April was always the damsel in distress.
Always.
The damsel in distress found herself in many strange predicaments. Spots her mother would have gone insane over if she had known about them. April would complain when the usual turn of events started in their games, grumbling about the predictable turn to it all, but wouldn't tell them no. They were still friends, after all... He'd never let her actually be hurt. She was certain on it.
Well.
For the most part, anyway.
There were times...
But that was in the past. April Martin was different than she was back then. She smiled as her Focus turned back onto the familiar streets of her younger years, everything looking so different yet so the same. She slowed as the houses passed, shaking her head slightly. She felt like a kid again. A 22 year old kid.
The car came to a stop before the house she knew so well, April's eyes raising to take it in. It seemed so big then. She peeked at the huge oak tree in the back yard, wrinkling her nose at it slightly as her gaze moved to the garage. That thing was still standing? Ugh, she had really hoped it would have been ripped out or fallen in or something. Another source of confusing, frustrating memories.
She blamed him for a lot of the things in her life anymore.
Not that she hated them. But having someone to blame for it made things easier.
If she had hated him, she wouldn't have tracked him down online. That face didn't look that different at all on his profile. Oh, internet. Wonderful thing. Reuniting old friends, bringing them back to places they knew so well.
There was so much she wanted to tell him.
Show him.
Explain to him.
Finally getting out of the car, she took off her sunglasses, pushing them up off her nose to instead help pull the hair from her eyes as they rested atop her head. Going to the door, she gave a gentle knock, taking a step back to peer into the window. "Hello? Should I just bust in like I used to here, or what?," She called out, smirking.
