This is fairly old. A few weeks after this picture was taken, one of the kids threw up on this blanket. It was just awful, and pretty sad, too, because she was so sick.

awww, the poor thing, I went through that with my daughters too, tears your heart out when they get sick and basically all you can do is comfort them

Some time ago, my husband took me hiking, while on vacation. Well, this old man wanted to drag me halfway across the country, over tall hills and small mountains, just to find a waterfall he spied on his topographic map.

It was nearly a journey of Lewis & Clark proportions. Well, maybe not that long, but it took us a good five hours to get there. So, since we were miles and miles from civilization, I went skinny dippin'.

I like his style!! sounds like something I'd do to my Patty

Yeah, I know what you mean... Our middle daughter, Sandy, had her 18th birthday last Saturday, and, although I was really happy to see her pass that landmark date and continue maturing into a fine, up-standing young lady, it sorta saddened me, too. I just kept thinking back to all the little things she and her older brothers and sister did, when they were younger.

...throwing up on me, my husband, furniture, bedding... getting sick and staying home from school... faking sick and staying home from school... (they were a crafty lot!)...

That's kinda sad, I think. I think the worse time in a child's life is when they find out Santa Claus isn't real. Boy, lemme tell ya, Stephen and I kept that story alive for YEARS with these kids. And, since he's a writer, he could really wow 'em with his short stories about the adventures of Ol' St. Nick.

...oh well... Sandy's a beautiful and amazingly intelligent young woman now, and we couldn't be happier or prouder.

that's such a nice story and I know exactly what you mean. my daughters are all grown up now and out of the house. the AV of me is really half a picture, the other half had my middle daughter Cheryl (daddy's girl) in it. Oh she had and still has me totally wrapped and I love it. she's also made me a proud grandfather so life is good.

but I tell women who have young kids, take lots of time to enjoy them because before you know it they're gone
