Hmmm.... I was wondering...

Ok, so! If you could have me for an entire night, 6pm to 6am, what would you do with me? Anything is fair game. I'm just curious. ;)

...there isn't much I won't try, either.

This could be rather interesting... and here's some motivation...

A Picture of Me

Go back in time about 4 months, to when we first talked, and behave a great deal differently toward you. Be a lot nicer and less inquisitive. Not take your criticism personally (or pretend to).

Why, hello there!

Well, not a lot to report from here. Just another Sunday afternoon. My husband took our youngest daughter down to the forest behind the house. She's working on a dual project for Girl Scouts and school, taking plaster casts of animal footprints. Two months ago, she was collecting leaves for both activities, as well. That was actually a lot of fun to do with her, ya know? The Girl Scouts gave her a little booklet to help her identify various trees by their leaves, and then we collected samples and brought them home to press and dry. We bought her a nice photoalbum to put them in, and they look pretty cool.

I wouldn't be surprised, if she turns out to be a naturalist. That little girl just loves anything to do with the great outdoors. Last weekend, she came with me and her dad to a water testing class put on by the county conservation board. Now, I'm sure you're probably thinking, "Ugh. Bor-RING." But, hey, let me tell you, I thought the same thing, and it was nothing like that. My husband's Scout troop is going to start testing various streams for the county twice a year. The county trains you and even gives you all the equipment you need for free. Heck, if you stick with it long enough, they'll even pay for some of the expenses you might incur. And, if kids are actively involved, they can even recieve scholarships. Not a bad deal!

Stephen and I are going to start working on the stream behind our house. We've signed up for the class to be fully trained and certified. And it doesn't cost us a dime. Besides, it's fun. You get to put on some big boots (BONUS! LOL) and muck around in the water with your sweetie. What else are ya gonna do? Sit around inside and watch football and drink beer all weekend?! Phtphtpht... THAT is what I consider unbearably dull and boring. Let's go outside and DO something! It's fun, it's with the person you love, and you're doing a good deed. Anyone can sit on their duff and do nothing. It doesn't take lots of will power or brains to do that.

I emailed our one neighbor up the road from us, this artist fella, to see if he'd like to take the class with us. He's kind of an outdoorsy guy, too. I figured, as I said in my email to him, hey, maybe you and I could take another stream and do it ourselves! I'm betting dollars to doughnuts he says yes. But I probably won't hear back from him until tomorrow. He and his girlfriend drove out to Leadville for the weekend - a NICE place to visit.

Right now, our two oldest girls are off visiting their respective boyfriend and fiance: Sandy with her boyfriend, Sammy with her fiance. Sandy called a while back asking if she could stay with at her boyfriend's apartment for dinner, and then he'll bring her home at 8pm. I said yeah, sure, have fun. Do I trust her? Of course I do! Do I trust him? Without question. I just know them both that well.

Sometimes I just shake my head, when parents say things like, "Oh, you can't ever really KNOW your kids that well." Nonsense. Yes you can. You just need to have the interest and desire, and then make the effort. If my husband and I want to know what's going on in the private lives of OUR kids, all we have to do is ask. If we think it's something important, we go off someplace privately with them to talk. And most of the time, we end up taking them for a walk in the forest. I dunno, maybe there's something about being in the woods that frees the spirit and makes it easier for one to share their thoughts. Heck, my husband and I go for walks almost every day, and we talk about nearly everything under the sun, including, for example, this thread. If he asks me about it, I tell him. I don't keep secrets from him. I never have and I never will. The way I see it, the minute you start doing that, the first time you tell just one itsy-bitsy fib or half-truth, well, you'll justify doing it a second and third and forth time, and, before you know, it's a regular habit. I don't lie to my husband, and we've trained our kids well from Day One not to lie to us. Does that mean they've never been caught in a lie? Nooo. But, as they grew older and matured, they came to understand that honesty really IS the best policy.

Our kids don't drink, don't smoke, don't do drugs. Well, the boys have had a few beers now and then, when I've been out with them, but, like me, they can't stand the smell or taste of it. My husband, per his strange habit, will sometimes have an import, when we go out to dinner. The darker and more bitter it is, the more he likes it. He doesn't care for beer, either, but he does like to sample unusual beverages now and again.

About eight years ago, he took me to a dinner party at the house of one of the visiting professors in his department at school. Well, a glass of wine now and then is fine, so I had one at the party. Wow... let me tell you, I had a pretty bad reaction to it! My throat started to swell up and I was coughing like crazy. Stephen finally took me to the emergency room, though it really wasn't quite that bad. I just couldn't stop coughing and, like I said, my throat was swelling. Well, they gave me a shot and not long after that I stopped coughing. They gave me a pill to take, as well.

After that incident, I stayed away from wine for a very long time! lol I'm still a little nervous, every time I have a glass of it in my hands.

Anyway, I guess I should get going here! See ya! :)

Wow, so much to talk about! Too bad I'm so bad at written conversation. But, hey for you.....

We had a lot of the same ideas about forestry conservation work when we hit the road. You know, stay at the national forests for free, help with clean up, trail maintance, etc. But so far we've only worked for campgrounds which really isn't as glamourous as it sounds. One of my favorite memories is running the honey wagon (sh*t pumper). I was always real popular when I did that job. For whatever reason people always wanted to talk/hear about our lifestyle while I was pumping shit. Then they'd tell me how cool it was. I mean really....what kinda job did they do that pumping shit looked like a GOOD idea?!!? Anyway this year we're just running our art buisness, much much nicer. We work when we want, wonder when we want, meet a lot of people from an art forum website we're members of....etc. It's just a much more low key situation. But if I was your neighbor I'd definatly work with you! (NO inuendo intended....hell D. would work with you too)

As for kids. Well, we don't have any and really don't want any. I LOVE my brother's kids and D.'s sisters have like 4 boys between the two of them. We're really just not into the parent trip. We've met too many people who just hate their lives cause raising their kids is all they do. Maybe someday....when we grow up

Honesty is absolute! I have a lot of respect for your husband for being so open minded about this site. Hell I got jellous when I read that you conversed for hours online with one of the guys here. D. also knows what I'm up to. Well we are together pretty much 24hrs per day. We joke about who we'd actually have an affair with! The post office guy? The clerk at walmart? We just don't go out on our own all that much. She is pretty much a free spirt and knows I'm totally commited to her. Doesn't mean I don't like to look

We used to enjoy the occational beer/wine/margarieta. Unfortunatly we found that D is alergic to sugar (a main component in most alchol) so she really doesn't drink much at all now. Me? well yea I do enjoy trying out the local micro brews wherever we travel....and wine....and tequila....OK, I guess I do enjoy drinking some.

OK sweetie, I'm gonna end this so the others here don't have to keep scrolling to find more pics. Ummmm more pics  Hope you're having a great day.

Greg
