Free speech is ok I suppose but don't broadcasters in the US have any guidelines?

I've just heard someone called Mark Levin (?) say on his show that US intelligence say that Al Q groups are now apparently openly abroad in Germany. He said that it has been reported that they are planning a massive attack on US troops and German citizens but that the liberals won't do anything about it.

I've heard the phrase quite often and thought of it as pure rhetoric but I actually felt that my blood froze when I heard his next words.

He wished that it were pre-war Germany because they would just round them up and 'progressively' interrogate them.

Has it really come to this? Nazi atrocities applauded as effective?

Shrugs. The major problem with free speech. Any asshole can say pretty much what they want.

I wouldn't have it any other way.

I always find in entertaining that the people who are most in favor of a more tightly controled society, ie. something along Nazi Germany or perhaps the USSR under Stalin where discenters were simply rounded up and disappeared, are often the folks who make the fullest use of the freedoms that an open society allows, ie. free speech.

You can't take Levine seriously. He's a charicature of conservatives (kind of like Howard Stern, just saying the most outrageous thing he can think of). We have him here when there's nothing else to listen to (10:00PM - midnight), so I tolerate him from time to time. It's just a joke and not meant to be taken seriously. Kind of like when Stern prayed to God that his program director would get cancer and die. *shrug*
