Maybe if I was a guy I could appreciate it ... lol What a head case.

Nah, got nothing to do with her femaleness. She's one of my favorite singers of all time. And one of the best bands.

Have seen REM several times. Yes, back before Stipe turned into whatever the fuck he is. Saw them at the FOX theater in Atlanta a couple of times.
Fables tour, Lifes Rich Pageant tour, Green.

Saw The Pretenders. I had an interview lined up for my radio station and she cancelled it. It was the end of the tour and she decided not to do more interviews. She was travelling with her baby at the time.

Saw Buster BloodVessel and Bad Manners. One of the most awesome shows ever.

Icicle Works ("Whisper To a Scream") They were really tight that night.

Psych Furs - pretty good

Mountain with Leslie West and Felix Papalardi (sp?) awesome

Nice Thread Jack ;)

Listening to Trail of Tears by Guadalcanal Diary right now. Saw them live at a little all-ages club a block away from Jacksonville Beach and the water.

I got lucky and attentd the Last Waltz at Winterland in SF, later made into a seminal flick by Martin Scorcese.

Saw the Stones many times, most notably the Jumping Jack Flash tour also at Winterland.

The Del Fuegos at the Skowhegan County fair in central Maine.

X at the Kabuki theatre in SF.

The New Barbarians with Stanley Clarke on bass and Keith Richards on gitar at the Oakland Arena.

Dylan a half dozen times, my fave being a show at the Old Ball Park in Old Orchard Beach, Maine in 1988. GE Smith of SNL fame played backup guitar and Bob was in the zone and played a huge smattering of his new and old catalog.

I saw Bob Marley 3 times with the Wailers, the first American tour at a club in SF. Second show was the Babylon by Bus tour at the Greek theatre on the UC Berkeley campus outside. The third was at the Oakland Arena, months before he died of Cancer.

I saw the Gun Club at the I-Beam in SF, a truly great band. RIP Jeffrey Lee Pierce.

Shakti with John McLaughlin on guitars, Zakir Hussein on Tablas and Lyle Shankar, Ravi's nephew on violin at the Great American Music Hall in Sf. The best musicianship I have ever seen live. They made one seminal album and disbanded.

Ive seen Neil Young at least a Dozen times but the most memorable was the "Rust Never Sleeps" show at the Cow Palace in SF, also made into a great movie Directed and Produced by Bernard Shakey (Neil).

The Call at a dive called Dubs in Gainesville Fla, the place where Tom Petty's band Mudcrutch was the house band before they split to LA and and were discovered by Leon Russell.

Weather Report with the original lineup, including my Bass hero Jaco Pastorius , Wayne Shorter on Saxes and Joe Zawinul on one of the first polyphonic sythisizers, an Oberheim that was big as a schoolbus. lol.

I saw CSNY on the 4 Way Street Tour the same day I had 4 wisdom teeth yanked at Winterland. Neil stole the show.

Jason and the Scorchers at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

I love live shows. Tickets used to be cheap.

I long to see Steve Earle, Jay Farrar, Lucinda Williams and James McMurtry, who is playing with Delbert McClinton tomorrow 2 hours south of me in Portland Maine.

I wish I had seen Miles Davis-I had many chances but lamed out.

evening e.e.

you've got a bunch of my favorites on your list. i've never seen neil young, which is inexcusable given the length of time for which i've dug him.

i've seen all the guys on your wanna-see list. steve earle is one of my heros, so he could have come out and played abba covers, and i would have been happy.

i saw lucinda williams when she toured in support of "car wheels on gravel road." i can't remember now who she hired as her guitar slinger, but he was hot hot hot. and she's so cool. it was a great show.

you'd have liked son volt. loud as hell, though. pack your ear plugs.

james mcmurtray comes off as a tumbleweed poet. which is fitting.

i saw miles davis at the new orleans jazz festival. he played a coliseum show. turned his back on the audience most of the show. birth of the cool, though.

here's who i'm getting ready to go see. http://www.cathead.biz/BigGeorge.html

cool, have fun.

I have Son Volt's entire catalog and all of Jay Farrar's solo projects, including his recent album "Terroir Blues" largely about the death of his father. I listened to "Wide Swing Tremolo" tonight, and yes it was loud, (cause I had it turned up to 4 on my tuner.

Trace, by Son Volt, is on my top 15 alltime albums list. I wore out two copies of that one.

They just got back together and released an EP in the last couple of weeks. I will be picking that one up.

Guitar Town and Copperhead Road by Steve Earle get listened to alot around here.

Another great desire is to see Tom Waits live.

;)

The Last Waltz. That must have been awesome.
But what exactly is The Jumping Jack Flash Tour? That was the name of a tour??

Yeah I saw GE Smith with Dylan in Nashville. And also saw Steve Earle open up for Bob Seger in Nashville. Earles Guitar Town tour.

The Jumpin Jack Flash tour was 76 I believe and called that cause mick wore that crazy costume with the blue tights and cape and top hat. Of course I watched Keith 90 percent of the time.

:D

I just remember Bob on a Strat and GE on a Les Paul really complementing each other with their playing of his songs. Bob is way underated as a guitar player, especially electric. GE was perfect as a backup and Bob was really frisky that night. They did a version of Highway 61 that still sticks clearly in my head.

sonny boy williamson was exported to england to ply with the yardbirds, when clapton played with them. supposedly sonny boy returned and said, "those english boys wanna play the blues so bad. they're doin' it."

i rediscovered tonight the truth underlying that.

I once saw DJ Jazzy Jeff spinning records once, that was pretty groovy.

you won't mind, will you, if i dust you for fingerprints?
do i get a frisk, too?

this is a great thread.

i've gotta get to memphis or atlanta or new orleans to see that.

i'm an old fucker. but an open-minded one.

i think it'd take more than jazzy jeff at this point, though.

will smith's wife, on the other hand....

Dude, if I was in driving distance of any of those cities I'd be crunkin' like you couldn't believe.

Oh, also, I got tickets to one of only two North American shows that Radiohead did while touring for Kid A. That was a good show.

radiohead is a band that i'd swap a testicle for. they've cut a swath that is their own.

the live music down here, though, is phenomenal. even at 5 bucks a pop.

The only great band since Nirvana, even if Kid A was overblown.
