working on ideas for printmaking class. I start this Wednesday at the Southwest School of Art & Crafts.

and yeah in my usual theme of skulls, skeletons, birds, feathers, bugs and figures.

well printmaking class was great fun. didnt do a lot...it was only 3 hours...but...made a monoprint in one color. I drew a beetle. we only had a short time to draw and the tools were...a square of posterboard, a Q-tip and a papertowel. fun! it was great running a press again after all these years.

then prepped copper plates for etching. I got to guillotine my piece off from the big sheet, cleanup the edges, cover the back, prep surface and apply hardground. yay.

watched a demo preparing a marbleized texture background for etching. just like marbleizing paper but using varnish instead of ink.

AND I have my OWN drawer (well with 2 other students) with my name on it.

fun fun fun!!!

got lost on the way home but that was no problem. I mean I KNOW where I was (hahaha) and where I was going...just the route got a bit mixed up.

oh! I (all students) can go in when other classes aren't in session and work on my own. open sched to be posted next week. more yay.

short term I have plans for figures, wings and beetles (together or separately)

when I get to litho i will do my avatar, tribute. I will do bonesofhisface either as litho (or maybe engraving or etching)

I think that if/when I do the images I really want to in class it might be a bit much for the other students.
