Kira picks the direction she thinks is right and starts to walk. The day looks like it will be nice
and sunny, and she smiles to herself. "With any luck, I should be home in a few hours time."
"I just hope I can find something to eat on the way, I am just famished now." She looks around
as she is walking through the forest hoping to find something edible.
Finally she laughs and runs over towards a large oak tree, she had spotted some of her
favorite mushrooms. Morels, she picked a few and put one in her mouth. Sighed and started
chewing it. After eating a half dozen of them, she looked around and wished there was a
stream to quench her thirst. But no, so she started walking again, keeping an eye out for
the stream she had been following the day before.
After a few hours, Kira started to get a little worried, she was not recognizing any landmarks
yet. It would soon be noontime. She spotted a nice mossy place to sit and rest for awhile
thinking: " I should be getting near the part of the forest that I am familiar with,
I just have to keep on going. But for now, I will think I will take a short rest and gather up
my strength before pushing on."
As she relaxed against the truck of a tree, the warmth of the sun, made her dozy, and
before she knew it, her eyes closed and she was sleeping.
Kira awoke with a start. She looked around with dismay, the sun was away to the west of
her, it was late afternoon, and she was no where near home. She didn't relish the thought
of spending the night in the forest alone. She quickly got up and started walking again.
