P.s.- If I thought all religions said basically the same thing, there wouldn't be much to study would there? That's like saying all cars are the same because they have the same parts, or all weed is the same plant, when we all know a Ferrari beats a Hyundai, and purple haze beats regs. Marx said it was the opiate of the masses, and that's certainly as true today as it was when he said it. The thing I find interesting about religion is there are so many similarities between so many of the worlds biggest religious sects. Makes one wonder was it a matter of charletons from each new faith stealing from other faiths to make theirs more palatable, or was it devine intervention.

Interesting take, though "compare and contrast" might well imply there are similiarities, and there definitely are. I s'pose what I meant was whether you thought the ultimate aim of religions was all the same....connecting to a higher power, searching for meaning, inner peace....all important stuff that different people of different faiths seem to have achieved in different ways, or are at least trying to achieve (a matter of preference, to your point). I definitely agree the world plays too much "my god is better than your god", and that what god or supreme power as any of us might envision, never intended for faith to drive a wedge between people, as it does, sadly.

But, if a Ferrari "beats" a Hyundai, is it better? If so, at least Hyundai drivers aren't subjected to others trying to convert them to "ferrari-ism".

Point of clarification

Can you be paternalistic to a damsel in repress? Is it man's job to save such damsels from repression just as knights do distressed princesses in funny conical hats?

Also, is it possible to ephemeralize repressed damsels as you might the aforementioned conically-attired distressed ones? It's not like repression necessarily turns damsels wan and pale and flitty and fragile. I've seen repressed women who, well, to state it delicately, trod the ground firmly...they were patently repressed but in no way ephemeral.

I don't think I know what "Damselinrepress" even means.
