"it's a long time since the prom and Becky Robinson"
That line struck the chord. The whole thing came rushing back to me. So much happened in that week that I'm suprised I didn't have a break down. I grew up a lot in that week, I had to. But that story will be told to Alice another day.
"Who's in your little black book?" she asked like a little teenager.
At first I chuckled then said "Well, my "black book" has been on the shelf for a while. There's the occasional romp now and then but nobody really serious. My moms not too happy about that, wanting more grandchildren and all. My sister, Cindy.. you remember her right? She was just a little kid when you left. Well she's got 3 kids now to keep grandma and grandpa busy. every now and then my mother tries to set me up with one of her friends daughters or someone she's met in the store. She tries and I love her for it."
We walk along the shore for what seems miles. I look around and we are the only people in sight. Turning her to me I tell Alice "So how strange is it going to be when I reintroduce her to you?". I laugh but soon get serious. I pull her close and kiss her. Not just a little peck anymore. But a real kiss.
