OOC:

Snickering, Hoggle continued following the fairy.
"Of course. But things aren't always what they appear, you have to ask the right questions", he stated bluntly, tossing the words back at her over one grubby shoulder.

Sarah looked at him. What a confusing little man he was.
"Where's the door?" she said. She just wanted to get started. Time was running out.

"Ah, now that's the right question."
Ambling over to a nondescript section of wall near where they stood, he fumbled around for a moment, then depressed a hidden switch and stepped back.
With a grinding of stone upon stone, a previously unseen doorway swung open, revealing a lichen-encrusted brick wall several feet beyond the portal.
To either side, a narrow alleyway stretched endlessly into the distance, following the path of the outside wall.
Stepping back, Hoggle gestured dramatically.
"Uh, you really going to go in there?"

Sarah bit her lip lightly.
"I have to." She crossed teh threshold with some trepidation, once inside, she looked right, and then left, considering both directions. . .
"Which way would you go??" she asked, hoping for the advice of someone knowledgeable.

"I wouldn't go at all."
Shrugging, Hoggle turned away, dismissing the girl with an abrupt shake of his head.

"Some help you've been!" she retorted. She scanned the two choices. "I think . . . I think I'll go that way." she said, and motioned to her left.

"Even if you get to the center of this labyrinth, you'll never get out again. And don't say I didn't warn you!"

She frowned slightly "that's what you think!" and in a huff, she turned and walked down the corridor, heard the loud matal bang as the door closed behind her. She stepped gingerly over logs and branches, making her way through the path. "what do they mean Labyrinth, there arn't any turns or twists or anything, it just goes on and on. . . or maybe it doesn't. . . maybe I'm taking it for granted that it does." Sarah smiled and started running with new vigour down the corridor. She ran til she was out of breath and stopped. She screamed into the air, and kicked the wall. She hit the wall, kicked the wall, and screamed. She was never going to rescue Toby, and the poor boy! he must be so scared! She collapsed against the wall.

"Allo."

She looked around, trying to lacate the speaker. She saw no one. Branch there, stone there, worm there, another branch. . . Worm?
"Did you just say 'hello'?" she asked timidly.

The worm shook his head. "No, I said 'allo' but that's close enough."

''Oh''

"Come inside, and have a cup of tea."

"Uh, thank you, but I have to solve this Labyrinth. . . but there aren't any turns or twists or corners or anything!"

"Sure there are, you just ain't seein' 'em!"

"But where are they?"

"There's one right in front of you."

Sarah looked at the wall. It was solid, there was no way through.
"No there isn't."

He nodded. "Come inside and meet the missus."

"But . . . there isn't an openning. . . . "

"Sure there is! You try walking throught it, you'll see what I mean"

Sarah stood, and walked to the wall for closer inspection. She could still see no way through. In fact, she had kicked this very wall only moments before. "There's just wall. . . there's no way throught."

"Go ahead, try walking through it."

Sarah causiously walked forward, expecting to hit wall, but soon found herself in another corridor. SHe looked back. "Thanks!" and she started hurring down the pathway.

"Wait! Wait! Don't go that way! NEVER go that way!"

Sarah stopped, and paused. "Oh. . . okay. . . " she turned and walked the other way. "Thanks."

As she walked further away, the worm muttered to himself "If she'd kept on going that way, she'd went straight to that castle!"
