Ladies: Does the word pussy turn you off?

You know, now that I think about it, I dated a girl who would say all kids of words for vagina, but her own was her "bunny".

I couldn't say anything but "bunny" to her when referring to her sex. I actually grew kind of fond of it, as it brings to mind soft, warm things, but of course I can't use that in writing.

That's just nuts.

Variety is the spice of writing. It can get difficult when writing erotica to find enough words for the ah ... "intimate body parts" so as not to sound repetitive.

Also, strokes for folks - not only do different readers prefer different kinds of word (I don't mean by this men/women - there is a lot less difference between male/female readers than there is between different social classes, IMHO). Different characters in your story can be indicated by using different kinds of words, and background tone set in this way too. In my Valentine's story, I had a Victorian young woman as a central character so I made her coy about using even the word 'stomach' (I mean for her stomach, LOL - the Victorians and Edwardians thought you should not mention your digestive tract, never mind the 'unmentionables'). My editor commented when I had my heroine use the word 'pudenda' that she would be unlikely to know it. I particularly wanted it, as it was introduced as a euphemism because it's the Latin word for 'shame', so I had the doctor in the story use it.

As you may be able to guess from my avatar, I am not at all averse to the word 'pussy' ;). I like 'cunt' too, especially saying it softly to young men who are flirting with me in bars as they seem to find it very shocking that a lady such as moi will say such a word, and that makes me laugh!

C-word

From what I've gathered in a little bit of my own research most women are fine with the word pussy. Cunt is the one many have an issue with because of its other derogatory meaning. Its worth noting that could be a regional thing as UK women say cunt all the time.

I agree, I have no aversion to "pussy", while I admit to finding "cunt" rather distasteful. I have had men throw the c-word at me in a derogatory manner, while references to my "pussy" have either been neutral or even an endearing term. Brits also use "fanny" as slang for vagina , altough perhaps not so often as they once did.

For whatever it's worth (2 cents?) here is my take, but I'm not a woman. I like to vary the terms occasionally although pussy and cunt are the norms. Here are some of my alternatives.

passage
chamber
fuck hole
peach
plum
gash

Of course the adjective that accompanies the word is just as important. None of the above would work well without such modifiers as:

steamy
juicy
dripping
quivering
twitching
clenching
throbbing
pulsing
gushing

I actually tried to write a story once without ever using the words pussy, cunt and cock... not easy to do! Not so hot either.

Guys view

Even though I am a guy I think the context plays a big part. A submissive being disciplined in a BDSM scene you would use it more. Do not overuse try to have different names for the person and the vagina. Whore, strumpet trollip etc for the person twat , cunt, slit, pussy for the other. Of course, from time to time you will have overlap especially with a long work

When reading erotica, are you put off by "pussy"? Is there another word you prefer? Thanks :)
I absolutely hate the word. I wish there were good alternatives. I'd go with "cunt," if the rest of the world would. The problem is infantilization. I have a similar scratching-on-a-blackboard to "panties." I wish we could use "knickers" in the U.S. As it is, I go with underwear or underpants.

I don't get worked up about labels. My attitude is, it's a pussy, or a vagina, or a cunt, and it's awesome, whatever you call it.

My wife doesn't refer to it very often, but I have heard her say several times that she "likes to feel a hard cock in my pussy."

Pussy is one of several useful words for female genitalia. My tip is to mix the standard terminologies up as the story and heat progresses.

It's not something I ever worry about, or set quotas on.

People get hung up on the silliest things, is all I can say. There are far worse terms one could use. Same goes for panties vs knickers - the women in my family use the terms interchangeably.

I consider it the equivalent of dick or cock. It's the vernacular but not particularly "dirty" in the hierarchy of usage.
Cunt to the American ear is a much harsher word. Calling another woman a cunt would be considered a serious step past bitch in my social circles. Borderline fighting words.
