I saw some bourbon distilleries. They were pretty cool. (Free samples, too!).

And a bunch of really tall buildings. And a pretty cool water tower in Metropolis, IL. I was unable to get a photo, but the tank at the top has a huge Superman in flight painted on it and the words "Metropolis - Home of Superman" beneath the artwork.

I saw that place on the Travel channel! Lucky dawg!

Make sure your credit is spotless unless you have enough in savings or other assets to obtain a ten percent minimum down payment.

If you're a veteran and are using you VA loan you will have to have an independent inspector ($400 here in Cali), verify that the home is move in ready as the VA is very picky on what they approve.

From there you need to find a reliable fianancial institution (Don't necessarily rely on realtors' money men).

Things the VA will definately decline on is bug infestation (Termites and the lot), the bathrooms have to be 100%, the kitchen as well. Hell there are nightmares of being declined for a broken window the seller refused to replace.
