Last movie you watched

The Avengers. Yes, with Ralph Feinnes, Uma Thurman, and Sean Connery. It is just awful but I love it. But now I'm watching daintyfemme's heaving breasts. So delicious.

my opinion of PUBLIC ENEMIES

why you should not see it:
-All throughout the movie there were EXTREME close ups of every character’s face
-The camera was very shaky during at least 50% of it
-For the first half I felt like I was just watching events occur and not like I was being told a story
-Johnny Depp is gorgeous but looks nothing like the real John Dillinger
-Christian Bale's hair was slicked back and his skin was very pale, giving him a slightly Hitler-esque appearance
-there's a lot of running and shooting so some of the time I had no idea who was doing what
-Did I mention the extreme close ups and how shaky the camera was?

why you should see it:
-BILLY CRUDUP WAS FUCKING GREAT!
-Johnny Depp is gorgeous
-Marion Cotillard is really pretty
-from what I could tell, it was indeed historically accurate
-the scene where a bullet comes out his cheek
-ridiculously adorable clothes
-um, did I mention that Billy Crudup (Russell Hammond) is in it?

Revolutionary Road, a very thought provoking movie, especially for women who are married/been married and have kids.

It really made me think that things for women have really changed, in the choices they can make now as opposed to the time frame of the movie in the mid 1950's.

On the other hand it also made me think...

Women still give up a lot to raise families, we still live in that society which dictates the man will have the career and move up professionally and the woman will stay home and raise the kids. Even when both wife and husband work, our society still puts the man's professional life ahead of the woman's.

Anyhoo, it's a movie that makes you think.

I have to agree and disagree with you on this one. I liked the movie quite a bit, even though the Hi-def camera work felt too much like a handheld store bought camcorder at times. I think Depp actually looks fairly close to Dillinger, though a bit younger. I thought Bale did a great job, his character is rather conflicted (the real life man he plays, though the movie doesn't touch on it near enough) and I think his appearance played to that. I thought the close-ups worked well to giving the characters a much more "human" face, compared to the legendary characters they are portraying. And, as much as I love Crudrup, I think he hammed it up way too much as Hoover.

Yes, the camera work was the worst part. A lot of times the extreme close ups looked "fuzzy" to me.

I love that he hammed it up that much because, idk, it got my attention. Usually when I watch a movie, my favorite character is the one who's most absurd.

Also, the part were they've just screwed, it looked like she eyes her scanning something. They should have been focused on him but they were moving right to left like crazy.

Yeah it said he "died by his own hand" or something like that. I thought "Why don't they make a movie like that?"

I only mention Christian Bale's appearance because I'm so used to him being hot like in American Psycho & The Prestige.

Romance and Cigarettes ***

Seen it - okay film, certainly different. These days Musicals are almost a novelty - not like in the golden era.

The Good German - ***1/2

Not a bad experiment by Soderberg. Liked what he was trying to do with it. Some good performances from Clooney and Maguire, not too sure about Blanchett though. Kind of like she was trying to channel Ingrid Bergman but was actually getting Greta Garbo!
