EB, those scriptures are so open to interpretation I am not sure the point you are trying to make with them.

If you are trying to make the point that the New Testament is similar to the OT with respect to being Paternalistic vs. Maternalistic, then yes, I would agree - but with a much softer approach.

JB... that was beautifully put.

Unreg... I'm not a Christian, and I must admit to more than a little ignorance of the Bible. However, I simply cannot believe that God would damn someone because of who their heart is drawn to. I can't.

You have to be true to your heart and soul. Everything else falls by the wayside.

I believe those quotes from the bible say plainly that woman was created for man. Nowhere does it say woman was created for woman. Doesn't say she wasn't either though. Only says woman was created for man. That's the point being made and the question asked.

BTW where do ppl get that God does not judge??? He has judged ppl from the begining of their time. If God didn't judge ppl there would be no reason for Hell would there? No one would ever go there. God would let us all into Heaven wouldn't he?

And so if the man wants his one of his wives to give another of his wives oral sex while he fucks her, then that is okay because they are their for the enjoyment of the man?

The whole of that chapter is more about whether men and women should wear head coverings in church than anything to do with female homosexuality.

And besides, if man was made for woman, and woman for man, then why was Paul, who wrote those scriptures, so hot on keeping them apart sexually? He was very big on celibacy and only recommended marriage if you couldn't control your sexual urges any longer.

Man wasn't made for woman. It only states that woman was made for man. Because Paul really wanted men and couldn't stand for women to be with men...it turned his stomach. :p

Brat

P.S.
There is nothing in the bible about female homosexuality because woman was made for man only. In Genesis it plainly states that God created man and he was lonely so God created woman in man's image to be a companion for man.

"Ignorance is bliss!"

By syphor(The Matrix)

Now i'd like to address alltherage again.

The old and the new testament both do say woman was intended for man.
The bible can be dumb fuck twisted all different kind's of way's.
But fact is fact.
God didn't create adam and steve.
God didn't create anna and eve.

Don't get me wrong on the quotes.
I have nothin against people that have different lifestyles.
But i'm not gonna help them to think that a sin is not a sin.
I was raised up in a christian family,so i do know!
I'm not in church anymore and that's why i didn't like answerin this this request to start with.

I could go on and on for hour's with quotes from the bible but it's not my job.
I'm Evil.

The problem with the quotes, as I alluded to before, is that they are taken out of context. Since no one addressed my objection to that, I will post the whole chapter here so everybody can see the context that these verses come from:

1
Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.
2
I praise you for remembering me in everything and for holding to the teachings,[1] just as I passed them on to you.
3
Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.
4
Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head.
5
And every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head--it is just as though her head were shaved.
6
If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head.
7
A man ought not to cover his head,[2] since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man.
8
For man did not come from woman, but woman from man;
9
neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.
10
For this reason, and because of the angels, the woman ought to have a sign of authority on her head.
11
In the Lord, however, woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman.
12
For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.
13
Judge for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered?
14
Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him,
15
but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering.
16
If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice--nor do the churches of God.
17
In the following directives I have no praise for you, for your meetings do more harm than good.
18
In the first place, I hear that when you come together as a church, there are divisions among you, and to some extent I believe it.
19
No doubt there have to be differences among you to show which of you have God's approval.
20
When you come together, it is not the Lord's Supper you eat,
21
for as you eat, each of you goes ahead without waiting for anybody else. One remains hungry, another gets drunk.
22
Don't you have homes to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God and humiliate those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you for this? Certainly not!
23
For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread,
24
and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me."
25
In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me."
26
For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.
27
Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord.
28
A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup.
29
For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.
30
That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep.
31
But if we judged ourselves, we would not come under judgment.
32
When we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned with the world.
33
So then, my brothers, when you come together to eat, wait for each other.
34
If anyone is hungry, he should eat at home, so that when you meet together it may not result in judgment. And when I come I will give further directions.
==============================================

Okay. Does that sound like Paul was talking about homosexuality of any kind, in any context???

What Paul was talking about was women being subserviant to men in the church. Paul was talking about the proper behavior of men and women in a place of worship. Nothing sexual there at all.

Taking 3 verses out of the chapter, quoting them out of context, and saying that means the NT or the Bible prohibits femal homosexuality is a giant leap of logic. It is putting those verses on the rack and twisting them into saying something they do not.

Every Bible scholar will tell you that you have to interpret Bible verses in context and that you can't just pull out a verse here, and a verse there, and interpret it any way you wish. That way lies chaos. That is how cults get started.

If you want to use those verses as support for other verses, then fine, do it, but keep them in context and don't build your whole argument on 3 verses taken completely out of context.

Someone came onto Lit asking for advise and all you guys can do is throw your egos around for a while? You want to get into deep discussions on the wording of a Bible, great, but not on this thread. For the others who love to dip into theirs Bibles, read the bit about the speck and the log, might help you see better. Someone asked for help, maybe asking for understanding in a hostile world when she cant turn to family and friends.

Why not? Such a discussion is certainly within the context since the thread starter has expressed her conflict is between her sexual desire and her Christian beliefs that her desires are wrong.

Surely a discussion of whether Christianity does indeed condemn homosexuality, specifically female homosexuality, is germane?

The point of the thread was not to throw around semantics and prove who could put biggers words into bigger posts. It was to help someone. Discussing ideas with other Lit members is great, but it wasnt the point. The point is to help, thats it. This lady isn't a moron, she does not need to hear us discussing one verse after an other. This is Dogma not Christianity.

Jesus loved everyone, tax collectors, whores, the diseased, the poor. Do u think he would not love a bisexual or a homosexual?

Less pride at being able to discuss points from a 2000 year old book. Put your faith in God and the next world and your love in this one.

The interpretation of the Bible into orthodox or accepted belief may be dogma, discussing what a particular verse means and whether it is relates to the issue is appropriate, since, as I said, the issue is reconciling beliefs and desires.

If we can't discuss what the Bible says on the issue, and we are to go solely by our own feelings, when our feelings are in conflict with what we are taught, then what use is the Bible?

Jesus loved everyone, tax collectors, whores, the diseased, the poor. Do u think he would not love a bisexual or a homosexual?
Yes of course Jesus loves everyone; however he also stated that not everyone would go to heaven. Discussion of what he and his disciples said is appropriate in this thread.

Less pride at being able to discuss points from a 2000 year old book.
I think you are misinterpreting someone having an intelligent discourse for having pride in what they say. Show me where people are being prideful at being able to discuss such issues.

Put your faith in God and the next world and your love in this one.
That sounds real good, but for many Christians in conflict about this issue, that is not enough - they need to know that despite what common dogma spouted by some would have them believe, they are not unrepentant sinners by being homosexuals. Showing that the Bible is ambiguous at best on this issue, and not condemning is an approrpiate tact to take.

The conflict lies in the fact the poster is obviously very involved in the church....Her families, core is obviously deeply religious....Here she is having deep feelings, which in her mind is wrong a SIN, how do you reconcile religion and love for someone who could very well be your heavenly souls demise??.....

Unregistered, I haven't been involved in organized religion for a long time, yes another lapsed catholic...:) But I know exactly what you are going through, I had those same doubts, same fears....Would I be sentenced to burn in hell for all eternity??? I love my partner with all my heart, and she loves me....We are good people, I live my life in what I consider a good way....

Live your life for you Unregistered, live it well, be good to others, give of your time, give of your heart....Loving someone with all your heart CANNOT be wrong.......Good luck in dealing with all these feelings and fears, and if you need an ear, please pm.....

You are in my thoughts, be strong in heart and it will always be the right thing......april

I'm sorry i never got around to answering your thread directly.
I've been occupied.

I live everyday in hopes that God understand the way i live my life and that he will forgive me when it is my time.

According to the bible,i will burn in hell for eternity because i love my woman.I will be with her till death. All i can do is hope that God will see our love as a pure.

This is my problem.Kinda like your's!

If for some reason i go to heaven alone,i will reject it and go to hell too.I have told her this because i want her to know she won't be alone. This will give her some strength to keep her sanity mabe.I love her enough to give up heaven.I prove this everyday.

My heart will be with her for eternity.

Now back to your problem unregistered!
Do you think you could ever feel this way about a same sex partner?

If you could love someone of the same sex this much,
i would do it.If i was in your shoes.
When you love someone,a day together is worth an eternity apart.Rather than never had been.

I know i didn't write the bible,but i've read it 5 times.
Some part's more.
I love God,but i can't do as he say's all the time.

Your heart is an extension of your soul.
