Crisp morning sunlight filtered through the many full-length windows of Princess Alisia’s bedroom chambers. Even with the dusty-rose colored curtains pulled closed over most, their sheer material painted a daybreak glow into the air of her private chambers. Three rooms adjoined together by ornate doors made up the floor plan, with the middle room being the one most seen by visitors. It had a corner designated for lounge chairs with a small fireplace, overshadowed by large green-plants and wall hangings. Another corner had some shelves with books and keepsake knickknacks. There was a large area rug taking up most of the floor with a soft vine design in colors of green, purple, and tan. Yet at the back of the room was the main focal point for this morning’s breakfast. The curtains of these bay windows had been opened for maximum light, revealing an outside balcony overlooking a field of green gardens. A small table was set for two with a hot breakfast of sausage, eggs, and oat muffins along with finger sliced cheese, grapes, and melon.
In the Dulany palace there was little-to-no activity this early in the day save for working maids and servants shuffling around quietly. It was so early that seeing the princess dressed in nothing but a fancy robe covering her delicate nightgown attire was normal. She took the time to brush her long hair and pin up the sides and lightly powder her face but anything else would have to wait until her handmaiden arrived. It hadn’t been the first time she has had company this early nor would it be the last, but it was the person himself and her subject in mind that made her feel nervous and uncomfortable. She had invited him the day before with the excuse that she wanted to go over one of his lessons just to make sure she understood correctly before the next scheduled class meeting. Alisia had done this before, being the attentive pupil, so nothing out of the ordinary here. But she had no one to blame but herself for the awkward truth in this secret matter she desired to discuss, which had nothing to do at all with any of his academic lessons for the palace students.
She paced the floor nervously, repeatedly going over a swarm of words and thoughts. Why was she doing this again? Was he the right person of choice? Did she have to do this? Was this going to turn out to be the biggest embarrassment of her life? If it did happen would it hurt?
Her blondish-brown hair was long enough that the wispy strands extended below the curves of her young breasts. With her mind in fervent thoughts she absently raised a hand to a portion and pulled it over her shoulder so that her fingers could twirl with the natural waves. Only when there was a slight knock to the door before opening to reveal the face of a servant did Alisia’s fingers stop and her hand dropped. Father always berated her for playing with her hair. The servant announced that he had arrived, and with a big breath taken she nodded her head and accepted his arrival into her little private portion of the grand palace. It wouldn’t have taken him long at all to get there, considering he also had a private chamber and private study room in the palace. He was responsible for the tutoring of the royal family along with other young lords and ladies in the kingdom, so it was only expected for his person to stay close to his working environment and for Alisia’s father to pay him well.
