Liberals 101

Lavender

If one cannot see the difference between what Cheyenne posted about liberalism and what I posted about libertarianism, they are more stubborn and pig headed than I thought.

F-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f--f-f-f-f-f-u-ccc---k-k-k-k--- y-y-y-y-y-y-you

b-b-b-b-b-b-b-bitch!

I get it...

Cheyenne was merely using this as an example of how we all generalize the positions of those that disagree with us. The reality is that on an issue by issue basis individuals are probably closer to each others position than they realize.

We have this need to clearly define the "enemy" so we take the extremes of their side and use that as a definition for all of them.

Todd's thread about this summed it up nicely. All sides put their spin on what the others are doing to "rally the troops" and nothing ever really gets accomplished.

Liberals paint Conservatives as money grubbing Scrooges that have not a whit of generosity towards their fellow man and Conservatives classify all Liberals as communist usurpers and oppressors.

The problem with trying to pigeonhole everyone into such narrow definitions is that we end up sinking into name calling rhetoric spewing mud fights instead of trying to really ascertain what each is trying to say. When that happens we actually move closer to our respective extremes. Maybe it seems safer behind the walls of the fort.

I know that I come off as more liberal than I actually am. From what I posted it would seem that I actually do favor an end to capitalism, but that is not the case at all. I don't hate the rich as Conservatives always assume simply because I call myself a liberal. There are some Republican and Libertarian ideals that I strongly agree with and some radical Democratic ideas that I disagree with.

I think we spend a little too much time screaming about what the "other side" is doing and not enough saying what we want to do.

Then we get defensive. And offensive at times.

Now......where was that smut again?

Have I told you lately that I love you, Thumper? :) Geez, I couldn't have given more clues, could I? ( I thought picking the fisting paragraph to comment on was about as obvious as I could get!)

And Never, you do know me better than that.

Awww shucks....

I think you fooled a lot of'em Chey...

Which just further illustrates the problem all sides have. They expected a certain type of thread from you and then interpreted it in that way only.

Granted, I know you a bit better so it was easier for me.;)

*MUAH*

For my favorite Ultra conservative!

Never said:
As for anal fisting being taught, that's a load of crock.

Why is it that practices like fisting and anal sex always tied in to homosexuality? Not only are there gay men who have never had anal sex, but many heterosexuals enjoy it. And what about lesbians? Somehow, every sex act committed by heterosexuals is perfectly legit - no matter how decadent or odd - yet two women or two men showing their love for each other is "immoral". In the 21st century! It never ceases to shock me. When I read crap like that, it makes my stomach churn. And the same guy writing this bigoted, disgusting, vile drivel is telling me I'm not compassionate? Yeah, okay. He can take that ugly piece of hate speech and sodomize himself with it.

In my humble opinion, I think that either a liberal or a democrat would do a fine job at running this country...or do a fine job in helping run this country...or do a fine job in helping this country run its' self.

Maybe the real problem here is that many of those in power are taking advantage of the fact that there is a mis-belief going around. The mis-belief is that it really matters whether your political standing is conservative or liberal.

When it is possible to make a carreer of public office, you will see many talented peolple use whatever strategy works to keep them in office. The point here is that public office should not be a platform for staying in office. It should be a position of service to a country that made it possible for that individual to realize his own dreams and goals.

There are many amazing people out there doing wonderful and impressive things. I see people every day that posess talent and hard work that would do great things for this country. These people are both liberal and conservatives. The good doesn't come from their political orientation, it comes from their motivation. I would question the motives of anyone in politics who has the motivation of self-preservation behind them.

Just a viewpoint from the big picture. If you learn to accept the opinions and talents of the people around you, even when you don't share the same beliefs, you will start to see the bigger picture. Most of us are good...few of us are bad...monitor the motivation of an individual's deeds and you will see the truth in what they say.

You will see someone's true nature when you see how they treat someone they don't need...

The problem is -

- that Cheyenne posted this thread with an obvious-enough disclaimer about the fisting, at least, but it exists to distract everyone from the fact that the right-libertarians here never responded to Lavender's thoughtful query on the other thread today - except for the ever-loquacious and -honorable UncleBill. That renders this thread somewhat like Bush pere's Pledge of Allegiance campaign in 1988. Anyone remember that central campaign issue? I thought so.

It's a problem to you - I don't see anyone else mentioning it. Nobody cares!

I already said I wasn't going to respond to her thread and why. This is a deja vu all over again, isn't it?

Give it up, man.

Good show old chap...good show indeed
