Lies and Innocence (closed for cnuveau)

Kitty offered him a smile, waving him up to beside her even as Tess seemed to turn back with her own small smile looking at them. "So," Tess began. "Do we try and learn which escape room she's in... it's on the 23rd, and Marrow, I think." Kitty gave a blank look. She'd never been in one, unlike Becca who seemed to delight in working them out. Who liked the fact some changed.

"We could try. I mean.." Kitty said softly.

He shrugged. I’ve done them a couple times. I’m down for whatever.

It was at that moment Tess, spun about stopping the two. "Road trip to the city!" And started walking back the way they'd come. Kitty gave a soft laugh. It seemed that her organising with him to put work on hold for the rest of the week. Tess was hijacking them off-target. "Sure, I believe we also have things to collect from Jen's shop. For Brett." Tess called back, "Sure, we can collect that too."

Brett turned on his heels and followed after her. On a day like today this was fine but if she makes a habit of coming by and taking Kitty. Off track he was going to have his hands full. The idea of getting out and having some fun was appealing to him though.

“We going like this or changing?” Knowing what he knew about Tess already he suspected they weren’t changing but he thought he’d ask anyway. He actually kinda hoped not. He was enjoying the view.

"Oh, no real need. We didn't get far enough on the walk to get sweaty. Right Kitty?" Tess mused back at them. As she led to the patio then up. "Going to your room Kitty to fetch my things." As she bounced off at a quicker pace.

Katherine nodded to her friend, then seemed to look to Brett as they stood at the top. "Tess works. Usually. She's just taking a few days out of it to help me. We'd see her usually on the weekend. Becca, doesn't work. Holly flits between working from home and social engagements her Family has." Which told him about her friends. One serious. One serious in another manner, and one who did her own thing. "However they've all got a handle on what the foundation does. Holly's family is heavily invested in it, so her work from home is more running calls for it. Tess dabbles more in the financials. While Becca, well, she excelled at business things for her university experience, and while she, does, mostly slack off. That's mostly because she actually dabbles in a few things which make her extra money."

He took in the details on each. He was relieved she wasn’t going to be popping in during the work days.

Her comment about Becca and dabbling to make extra money made him wonder. That sounded like a story for another time.

A few minutes later she was back. They loaded into her car and she tore out of the driveway.

Tess drove quickly, but reasonably safe. Kitty sat in the front seat, leaving Brett in the backseat. They pulled up out front of Jen's business. And Kitty hopped out heading for the front door, nudging her way inside the otherwise nameless store. "Leah, it's..." If Brett followed her, he heard. "Kitty!" And the thudding of heels against the floor, not that Leah was seen. "Suitcases to the left Kitty. the two black ones. So uninspired, but Jen said he'd look good with black luggage."

Looking left Brett spotted the suitcases then lifted one to the counter and unzipped it finding it filled with new clothes. He pulled out one of the silk shirts and held it up to himself. “Nice! We may need a fashion show later while I try them on.” Laughing at his own joke. He really was excited about the idea of a new look crafted by a professional. He grown tired of I’m his current style but lacked the vision to figure out how to change it. Maybe this was just the thing.

Not feeling the need to try them in there he zipped the suitcase closed, returned it to the floor and extended the handles to wheel them out.

Lacey did the same with the other. Both were large-sized suitcases. At least 85cm by 60cm by 45cm. Filled. Yes, she'd gotten him it all sorted over the two days. "Thanks, Leah! I'll send along a bonus." They heard, "Sure thing, loves ya." Before Kitty followed him out to Tess's rover. The boot opening up automatically and Kitty managing to get her suitcase in there.

Brett lifted his in behind hers. “Thank you by the way. Buying me a new wardrobe goes above and beyond. I can’t wait to see how I look.” He gave her a quick hug before sliding back into the back seat of The Rover. “Escape room?” He asked as Kitty closed the front passenger door behind her.

Tess nodded. "So, think you can find it on your phone any tips which might help Becca get out?" Even as she planted her foot and drove zipping through traffic. Kitty twisted a little looking back to Brett.

Brett searched his mind for something helpful to say. Without knowing the escape room it was tough to pinpoint anything definitive. He thought through the similarities he’d seen in the ones he’d done in the past.
“Well they always seem to try to direct you away from the location of keys. So she can rule out places that look like obvious places they can be hidden. You focus on the mundane things that you typically don’t notice. “. He paused trying to find something else helpful. “Also have to read everything you can find in there. They hid clues everywhere so you can’t overlook anything.”

“Does that help?” He says shrugging a little.

"So there wouldn't be anything online, about the escape room at 23rd and Marrow?" Kitty asked Brett, curiously. She'd never been in one.

“There might be cheats. Never looked. “ he said as he pulled out his phone and punched in a search. “Most people go in looking for the challenge I guess.” Sure enough he found a site dedicated to escape room cheats displayed on a map by location. He tapped the on 23rd and Marrow and there is was. He handed Kitty the phone. “Good idea”. Thinking about it, he’d been on some team building trips in college where he’d wished he’d had the cheats to get out of there sooner.

Kitty waved him back the phone and then bought up Becca's number. "Text the link to this?" As she smiles at him. "Tell Becca it's us, and we're waiting below to spirit her away."

Copying and pasting the link into a text message he typed out a message. “Here’s how to get out. Tess, Kitty and I are outside waiting. -Brett”

He hit send just as Tess screeched to halt in front of the building.

Tess kept the rover running, even as Kitty got out and into the back seat.

Tess smiled. "Good call Kitty. I'll drop you and Brett home. And take Becca out for drinks?"

Kitty nodded. "Sure. That's fine." As she looked to Brett.

Brett felt like the last half hour was one big whirlwind. Was it always like this with them? He wondered. Kitty seemed to take it all in stride so clearly not her first rodeo. He smiled a Kitty as she looked over then rubbed her thigh with his hand before returning it to his lap.

Kitty slides her hand after his and heels it, squeezing softly. They were more chaotic then her. But they were family.

Becca finally emerged from the escape room and climbed into the passenger seat looking back at Kitty and Brett. “Hi, Thanks” before turning to Tess “Let’s get the hell out of here. “. The entire ride to Kitty’s house Becca ripped into her asshole now ex-boyfriend. Brett stayed silent through it.

The pulled up in front Kitty’s estates and Kitty and Brett jumped out grabbed his suitcase from the back then they pulled off to go get a drink.

“Let’s get changed and into the office.” Brett said rolling his luggage toward the door, down the hall and to his room.

Opening a suitcase he pulls out a pair of silk slacks and a black silk shirt. Slipping it on it felt odd but good against his skin. He took a look in the mirror and appraised his appearance. “Sharp” he said approvingly as he made his way out the door to collect Kitty.

Reaching her door he tapped lightly.

Hid two suitcases held a mix of things. From work. To casual. Swim wear. Keen had our done herself. Her selections would result have him blending into Kitty's world.

As he knocks on her door there's a subtle soundless move of it open. He got to glimpse her standing there in violet underwear. Holding a blue sweater dress up to her self and clearly trying to work out of she liked it.

His eyes traveled down her body taking in every curve.

“mmmmm, very nice!” He said startling her as her head snapped around.

“Sorry, the door was open, I wasn’t trying to peep or anything.”

It was easy to see why Katherine had those lush curves which made her into the beauty she was. She worked at it. The walking, the gym he'd been told about. At his voice she blushed, turning to look. A blink for a moment, then a moment where she pulls that sweater dress on it comes to about mid-thigh, clings over her curves in a delightful manner.

"My fault, I guess I didn't push it enough." Barefoot and at least in the dress she moves to him, collecting her phone on the way. It takes her a moment once she gets to him to realise exactly what he's in. "Oh, Jen's stuff." There's a smile then, and a tentative look up into his eyes. "Do you like what else she got you?" Clearly, Katherine liked the way the trousers and shirt fit him. "I know it's not likely something you've worn a lot. Are you comfortable with it?"

Nodding “Haven’t looked through all of it but I like it so far. Haven’t really worn silk before. Not gonna lie, it makes me feel a little sexy. “ he says breaking into a laugh.

“Should we get to the office?”

Glancing to his feet. "Only if you lose the shoes." A wriggle of her bare toes. Which were sporting red nail polish on them. He hadn't seen red polish last night on them. "It's not a proper day. It's a day I ... I need to ring the places I should have yesterday, to make sure that Amanda's letter has been fulfilled." A heavy subject.
