There should be an option on your camera to change the size and resolution of the pictures. I don't know what kind of camera, but look around the settings.
Also make sure you're saving them as .jpgs

Do you have an editing program? you can usually reduce the resolution (screen res is 72 DPI, anything more just bloats the file size), and then reduce the actual dimensions of the image
