I can see that a comment that I find troubling is still visible. Please help me by explaining:

1. How long it takes for a comment to be removed.
2. Whether comments that were not removed in the first (24|48|72) hours become permanent.

I have turned comments off entirely, which is really something that I tried to avoid doing, but nothing else has been working.

A. Yes, I tried reporting the comment.
B. Yes, I tried requesting the deletion of the comment.
C. Yes, I have turned comments off and the comment is still visible. (I didn't really expect turning commenting off to be retroactive. I just tried it because nothing else has worked.)
D. Yes, I recognize that the comment is "invisible" from my own dashboard, but...
E. Anyone who uses Literotica can see the comment; they need not even have an account to see the comment.

I will be leaving comments off until there's a resolution to this. I regret that. But from my perspective, I was out of options.

You can just directly, instantly delete individual problematic comments off of your stories without throwing the whole baby out, and without waiting for a moderation report to get processed!

Go to your author dashboard, go to Works, click on the blue comment icon next to your story, then click on the trashcan icon next to the offending comment.

I can see one comment on one story. I can understand why you don't like it.

You can delete any comment placed on one of your stories.

Isn’t this just a caching issue? Where a comment is deleted but still appears on the story page for a brief while because cache invalidation is one of the two hardest problems in computer science, next to naming things and off-by-one errors?

If so, it should clear up in a day or two.

If you shut off all comments, it will take 24-48 hours for the cache to update and reflect that on the site where you can see it. Same for deleting comments ( though those will occasionally get slapped earlier due to a different housekeeping function )

The site's moderation of comments is mostly limited to removing comments that contain off-site links or other forms of spam. They will sometimes remove offensive comments. Moderation is otherwise up to the author, and I wouldn't expect the site to respond to requests for comment moderation.

Just a couple of suggestions:

Having a Title of, ‘Dominant’ and a Bio that starts, ‘I know how to write. Do you know how to read?’ is not a very neutral stance and is perhaps likely to provoke some pushback. Just sayin’.

It's probably a script or an automated tool just like approving stories. No human intervention. There's probably some sort of tool or code when you manually delete a comment that says if X does Y then do Z in (Time)

I actually like all comments. Good or bad. I’ll delete racist comments. I wish the comment format allowed replies and discussion. Imagine how much fun I could have.

Thanks, I understand what the mechanism is, but it's been a couple of days since I tried that. I waited a couple of days for the cache to clear, and it hasn't.

Thanks. It's already been more than 48 hours, which is why I took the trouble to post. I do appreciate that you answered the question that I asked!

I confess I didn't foresee my "not neutral" stance making it okay for "pushback" to extend to a comment advocating murder.

Not sure where I said that. But anyway, it was more a suggestion about how you might be perceived by others. It’s free advice, so by all means request a refund if you are unhappy.

I poked around and found a comment (which should have been deleted for extreme views) in some places - a typical lag between different parts of the site. You would expect it to be gone from everywhere within a day or two.

Normally an author deletes a comment and it’s gone 🤷‍♀️

I don't believe there is any comment moderation...
I have seen some fairly disgusting comments on occasion...
It is my belief that the only things moderated is anything relating to other sites...
Funny how they get deleted instantaneously, but personal insults, even the most vile stay...
Just my thoughts.

There isn't. The site screens for spam and html links, but doesn't adjudicate content.

Authors can delete comments, readers can report comments - in that case the site will look into the circumstances, and spammers will get accounts closed.

Not sure what happens about repeat vile comment offenders - their accounts might get closed. I assume vile anon comments get deleted.

There used to be evidence of a regular hate-speech trawl, although that was a while ago. Folk would report that comments had disappeared, but they didn't delete them - so the site does something. No-one's commented recently about that, though.

Do you report them?

Correct.

It really is up to the author as to whether they let them stay or not. If comments offend you, report them.

If choosing a title and/or writing a bio on a site such as Literotica results in negative and nasty comments (anonymous or not), humanity is far worse off than we (collective we - not you and me) believe it is. YMMV

Simply the voice of experience. There is no need for anyone to heed this advice. It’s just my observation.
