Just an idle thought - if you wanted to be able to secretly identify yourself as another Lit author to somebody else who you met on the street or at a conference or a party and who might be another author, what subtle handshake or other sign would you suggest? There are, after all, thousands of us...

I see nothing wrong with us repeating/reusing the masonic handshake demonstrated in this video.

The gesture should consist of three parts, enacted simultaneously.

Right hand with only the index finger extended, pointing up.
Left hand, all fingers splayed in a radial pattern; try to keep them as far apart as possible.
Face expressing deepest sorrow mixed with righteous indignation.

Such a gesture should evoke immediate sympathy in all AH dwellers, and particularly those who dabble in LW.

That sounds like Raphael's School of Athens - which I'm just going to mention, rather than trying to link to.

But if we do that, I won't be able to tell you lot apart from a courier!

Shut up and kiss me.

Thumb and forefinger in pencil-holding stance, then bring thumb and forefinger to your mouth and suck on them suggestively while making intense eye contact.

I happen to have the habit of holding a pen like a cigarette at all times...

Fill the rest with your imagination.

I'm getting a little pin made up that simply states, "I'm Lit". Most people will think I'm just making a joke about being drunk, but the secret society will know better and make some comment like, "Me too, but it'll be a month before anybody knows it." Then we'll hit a bar and have a drink.

If a middle-aged young woman wearing leggings and Ray-Bans suddenly runs up and gives you a high five... Then you know.

I mean, it won’t be me,

But if it happens, it’s probably someone from here. Who else would do that?
