We're nearing the end of 2024, so I suppose it's time to ask: Do you have goals for 2025 here at Literotica (I'm limiting it to Literotica--not writing or creative goals you have elsewhere), and what are they?

Do you consider yourself to fit one of the following types:

1. I don't have goals, I just write.

2. I want to get better as a writer.

3. I want to reach certain metrics, such as stories published, favorites or followers achieved, contests won, etc.

4. I just want to get my rocks off.

5. I want to get other people's rocks off.

6. I just hope my partner doesn't find out.

Or do you have goals that don't fit any of these descriptions?

I'll go.

I'm backing off from numerical goals, such as minimum number of stories to publish, because I find the more such goals I set the less likely I am to meet them.

My goals are more qualitative:

1. Continue to get better as a writer, in every way.

2. Continue to explore new and interesting erotic story ideas.

3. Get at least some of my unfinished stories done within the next year.

My main goal is both simple and amorphous. I want my next story to be my best (or at least better than the last one.)

This is made harder perhaps since maybe my best work is a few years old, and I may not be able to exceed it. I am also less satisfied with doing something I'm not happy with, according to my own criteria.

At the same time, I am drawn to trying something new, either thematically or stylistically, and am not afraid to make the literary face-plant with a new experiment.

I agree with the sentiments of Rick Rubin in The Creative Act:

For the sake of both the work and our own enjoyment, it's of great value to continue honing our craft. Every artist, at every juncture in the process, can get better through practice, study and research. The gifts of art are more learned and developed than innate. We can always improve.

No goals here beyond finishing an installment novel where the ending is already written.

I'd also like for my newest publication to reach 1k views before the end of 2025. Doesn't seem very likely, at its current pace.

I have five series currently in the works. I anticipate only one going longer than three chapters but my goal is to get them wrapped up so that I can get back to doing stand alones. I like doing both types, but doing multiple chapter stories starts to feel like work after a while and that's not why I'm here.

The plan-
Evelyn Ensnared - 2 of 2. Not a fan favorite, but I want to do it.
Freebody Manor - 3+ not sure I even want to end this one, it's just pure porn.
Suburban MILFs Club - 3 of 3.
Trailer Park Trixie - 2 of 2.
Yes, Ma'am - 3 of 3. This one will be difficult as it will dovetail into a yet unfinished stand alone, finishing them both with a happy ending.

And, I'm going to re-edit and re-format some stories and get them published outside Lit, to maybe see a few $$.

I promised Omie a new Gold Dollar Girls story for Pink Orchid, and if I come up with a good idea for the Valentine's Day contest, I'll do that, but besides those I intend to finally write a big project I have been outlining for a couple of years.

It will be a multi-chapter novel that purports to be the no-holds-barred tell-all memoir of a Hollywood movie star, from the days of silent movies up through the sixties. Working title is A Hollywood Life.

It's going to involve a ton of research, so it may not be ready to start running until late in the year. (Or maybe Trump kills the funding for my job and I have plenty of time on my hands and get it done sooner.)

1. Expand my writing into a few more categories (TBD)
2. Finish two more chapters of my Sci-Fi series, First Contact
3. Finish Amber’s Ambush
4. Add at least two more chapters to The Cum Slut Chronicles
5. Get in at least one meaningless argument with an AH troll over something neither of us can do anything about.

That should keep me busy.

It does say Literotica goals but...

My goal would probably be to reignite the motivation to write. I do want to write but I can't get over the amount of hours and all the work it takes for a story of the size I am used to. The returns I am getting here aren't nearly enough to motivate me, so if I find someplace to write for a maybe smaller audience with narrower taste, yet one who is much more interactive, it might happen, who knows? 🫤
I haven't seen any such place so far so yeah, I am not holding my breath.

Can women get their rocks off???

I was really hoping to finish all the eight stories I have planned (most of which I've started) before February 20th, so that I could quit Literotica exactly a year after my first story was published. Would have been neat. I very much doubt it will happen, as these are long stories and December and January are always extremely hectic at the day job. But I am getting seriously addicted and do need to go cold turkey soon....

My 2025 goal is to write a new story. Maybe. It’s been a few years.

I have an idea for another story based on a classic novel …

I want to actually get something finished and published. :p

My usual end-of-year surge in productivity seems to be a no-show this year. I've been opening the dozen or so stories I have in various stages of completion and musing on some other ideas that are just titles, vague outlines, or cover mock-ups ever since my days off started ( I only end up working about half of the days between Thanksgiving and New Years + a full week in January ) to no avail.

Maybe something will hit me before that vacation in January ends, but it's certainly not looking good right now. Usually, after I only work 2 days Thanksgiving week, the additional sleep and relaxation kick-starts me, but no go this year.

Any set goal is generally an own goal, so I no longer bother setting them.

I'm vaguely challenged to finish two long standing sequels, both started, but since they're both from the first year of what are now multi-year anthologies, I'm under no pressure.

There's also one story closure I've wanted to write for five years, but I'm still not sure I'm ready to write that one.

My writing goals are pretty straightforward, I'd like to finish both my stories by the end of 2025. I don't have any quantitative goals outside of that.
I would like to engage better in the community in 2025. I think going outside my comfort zone with writing challenges and events would help improve my writing. But we shall see how much time outside my existing projects I have 🥲

Before going over my goals for 2025, I guess I'd better see how my goals for 2024 went...
1) A 2023 goal was to write in every category (excluding Audio, Illustrated, Non-English and Chain Stories). I've nearly done that adding Trans, Fetish, NonCon, Gay, NonHuman, LW, Group, Toys, Lesbian and Letters to my publications this year. That leaves only 6 left to go: Mature (shouldn't be a problem as I've done age differences in other stories, still looking for a specific hook though), Mind Control (have something started in drafts, but, meh...), How To (again, working on something, close to completion), NonErotic (no idea, putting a non-erotic story on an erotic story website seems counter-intuitive), Celebrities (I look in this category and I have no idea who anyone in the stories are - probably going to do something with Marilyn Monroe) and finally...
Done. I even managed to get a VA to record an series of audio stories with me and to kick off a Chain Story event (still waiting to write my chapter but its a social requirement now, so it will happen). My comments above are quite funny because I manager to get two non-erotic stories published (10 very short stories about premature ejaculation and an entry in the Oggbashan Memorial). I also managed to bang off three completely different stories from the ones mentioned here in Celebrities, Mind Control and Mature.

2) Novels - I've got three half-written. This year has been terrible for long scale stories. I've only published one submission over 10k words (compared with 5 last year). Probably because my ambitions are becoming more ambitous and I'm doing planning for novel lengths stories, but not sitting down and putting in the leg work. My April Fools submission from last year missed the deadline and is sitting at 40k words basically complete, though I am going to go back and add some extra gratuitous sex scenes and do some reorganization. After that, we'll see if I can actually focus on finishing the other two.
Progress. I've now got four novels half-written! In seriousness this is a real problem. I need to work on a way of managing and finishing long stories. In terms of stuff I've published, I tap out at 20k.

3) Sequels and Continuations - I've got 42 stories on here currently and I've only ever done one Part Two. I've recently written a few stories with nominally the same named girlfriend character, but they still all work stand-alone. I've got a handful of characters who are ripe for further development. I should probably try to sit down and write three or four satisfying episodes from the same character in a row, but, I write what I can write at any given moment, so I don't know.
The 'nominally same girlfriend character' has now appeared in 11 published stories, 3 which are basically complete and 6 half written.
4) Red H's - I stated my goal was to get to 50% Hot over all my stories - I think this is a reasonable balance between maintaining quality and not being afraid to tackle more unconventional, controversial, weirder or niche stuff. I'm currently technically at 45% (up from 40% last year), but a few stories are still collecting votes and tottering on the edge, and I'm probably going to hit 50% by the New Year.
For some reason my scores tanked this year and I'm now closer to 33% than 50%. That includes a lot of my older stories falling out of hotness and not a lot of them achieving it. Oh well. I'm going to start pretending it was never important to me.

Always to get better.

I don't have a goal in terms of numbers. I used to write around 3-5 stories per contest. In 2025 I'll problably put out much less stories, but with much better quality and more interesting ideas.

I don't have any metrics I want to hit.

I'd like to delve deeper into psychology more in my stories. Hard to do but I like the challenge of that.

I don't have goals here. I have a lot of story ideas and plans including various ideas for my three open ended on-going series, Mailgirls Down Under, what has become the Gautam series, and I have some ideas for a few more visits to The Back Bar. But I write what interests me at any time, so I guess I'll see where that lands me.

Possibly somewhere completely different, with any luck...
