I had short hair for a spell after a tiff with an ex who made me promise I would never chop it. I will try to find the photo. I even had (gasp) bangs!

The thing I love about long hair is that if you don't feel like messing around with it, you can just pin it back. I'm sort of a tomboy and dont like a lot of fuss. As for bangs, well, some people can pull them off, but my hair grows like a weed and I require a trim within a weeks span, (otherwise I look like the lovechild of Cousin It).

cousin it was highly misunderstood and underappreciated.
long hair is cool as long as someone else is growing it/ tending it/ dealing with the heat of it during the summer.

I simply pull it all back into this funky new aged messy bun type looking thing most of the time. I learnt my lesson well after developing tacky hair shaped tanlines on my back last summer. When my hair was short, I was style limited in that regard and it annoyed me.

A couple of people have posted about guys with long hair. I had hair down past my shoulders from 1985-87 and again in 1989-90 before I cut it for baseball.

I always loved the effect it had on my love life. Some women absolutely adore long-haired guys, and yes, I had the bad boy image and I can see how they are tied together.

I miss it sometimes, but in my profession it just would not be realistic to grow it long again.

I had hair down to my shoulders when I went in the Navy. The barber got rid rid of it all in ten seconds flat. But he missed two hairs in the front. I got out of the chair, started out the door and those two hairs were hangin in my face. On pure reflex I reached up and finger combed them over the top of my head. When my hand slid across the stubble that was left I damn ner cried.

When I got out I tried to grow it all back. It started curling into my ear and that was enough. Haven't worn it over my ears since.

Why

I think part of the attraction of long hair is that it is a signal of her interest men (not always and not exclusively, of course), as othewise short hair is easier. I notice that soon after marriage, many women cut their hair short, just as they stop wearing heels as often, less interested in going out to parties. The guy is hooked, why bother with bait?
