I got Norton SystemWorks; it seems I had a virus in my system and the virus was in the program windows uses to run applications. I had to format my drive to get rid of it which means everything, I mean, everything I've written in the last four years is -zip-. Yes, I had back up disks but my mother was kind enough to remove their content so she could put her "important work related stuff"(TM) on them.
The work related stuff for the job she's quitting in July.

So, it seems my mother 'borrowed' the software we placed on our computer originally - that means I don't have Word. That means I don't have spell check. That means my posts are going to become a pain to read. Sorry.

Oh, and if you've have any computer to computer contact with me in the last six months, may I suggest that you get Norton AntiVirus? Sorry.

Also, What the hell happened to the board? I'm using Internet Explorer and everything's different. Grey. It's very gray.

It wasn't that short. My appologizes(sp?).

Never, tring hard two spel ritely.

Ahhh. That is a sucky shame. :(
Sorry about your situation.
*hugs*

I guess it could be worse. I hear leperosy is a real bummer. :p

So let me get this perfectly clear.
You had an Auction WITHOUT ME.
You changed the board WITHOUT ME.
Now, not only have I been robbed of the chance to bitch and whine until someone auctioned me off and someone else baught(sp?), perchised (sp?), er, paid points for me and therefore supported my massive ego. Not only has that been snatched from me, but now I have to spend five minutes trying to figure out how this new board works inside and out.
Wonderful. Great.
Now, I don't want to sound selfish here people but I think you could have considered MY thoughts about this, MY feelings. Damn it, it's all about ME, ME, ME!

Insensitive basturds.

never

I'd start looking around for a new mother if I were you. Yours is defective.

:p j/k

That's an absolute bummer Never...

If you were in the UK you could have your mother arrested!

Same thing happened to me last year when I let someone look after one of my computers whilst I was moving house. I didn't know at the time his knowledge of how the machines work was practically nil as he assured me he knew what he was doing. Anyway he only wanted to write a few letters and work on a spreadsheet.

Three months later when I went to pick it up I found he had arranged to have the hard disk formatted. The reason? He thought the desktop looked too cluttered and the machine was too slow loading his letters and spreadsheet.

Not only my data was lost but all my system disks for various applications. A cost of several thousand dollars.

I went absolutely nuclear and it was then I found out that we have a law here 'The Misuse of Computers Act' which is designed to allow prosecution of someone who damages/destroys your software/computer. Even if you give them permission to use your equipment they can only use it to work on their own data. A straight in and out job.

The penalty is a minimum fine of 1600 dollars (£1000) and/or three months imprisonment.

Armed with that knowledge I went to the police but was told that the situation is extremely difficult to prove and that is the downside to that particular law. Unless you write out a complete inventory of what's on the machine it comes down to your word against theirs.

And of course the bastard is now denying all knowledge of arranging the formatting.

I'm still trying to think of some suitable revenge...

Just think...

...you're going to have some great Birthdays and Christmases for years to come.

Just starting a sentence with "Hey Mom do you remember when you...." and the overriding guilt feeling should click in.

Enjoy!

Guilt?
I can imagine it now.

Never: "Gee Mom, remember the time we had a virus on the computer and you-"
Mom cutting in: "I remember being in labor with you for thirteen hours.."
Never: "But-"
Mom: "And that time when you were three and shattered my beautiful crystal vase.."
Never: "Oh, now -"
Mom: "I'm sorry, my back hurts so much, I just haven't been the same since that horrible car accident, I can't bare to vacuum. I hope my muscles don't go into spasms again while I do."
Never (mutter): "I'll vacuum."
Mom: "And the dishes?"
Never: "I'll unload them."
Mom: "What about the ca-?"
Never: "I'll feed her and change the litter box."
Mom: "Thank you, you're such a sweet girl."

Never...

...LOL

Yeah. I guess you can't win...whilst you're doing the dishes...
