It wouldn't be illegal to do a sequel without the author's explicit permission (which means it doesn't matter if you unsuccessfully tried to contact him or not) unless the author has trademarked his characters (which is highly doubtful). But it wouldn't be moral, as noted previously on the thread, nor accepted as proper here, and I'm fairly sure the Web site administrators would pull it off the site as soon as they were notified it had happened.

That may be, but none of us have the right to write one unless he contacts one of us and specifically asks. You and everyone who want this sequel have to live with the fact that you may never get one.

And I have to ask this: why would you want someone other than Sinclair to write a sequel to this? We don't know where he was planning on taking it...even if it were ethical for one of us to just take it up it would probably not work out very well.

There's another problem. Ian Sinclair appears to have been on StoriesOnLine and quite there too. Now has books for sale on Amazon.
