Lord, Liar or Lunatic?

Launatic

I am neither pagan nor athiest

Just to flesh out the question a little more. On the assumption that Jesus (yes that one) existed, and that he claimed to be the son of God and the only way to heaven that leaves three possibilities. He was right (Lord). He was wrong, but believed he was right (Lunatic). He was wrong and knew it (Liar).

On this basis I have to say I believe he was a Launatic. A prophet, not divinely touched or lead, just full of belief and worthy teachings. Personally I think that most religions are the result of leaders rather than gods.

Funny how some people can accomplish with one sentence what others cannot with a hundred.

*blush*, wow, thanks for the praise, even if it was acomplished by dumb luck.

I hope he's the Lord, as I've just asked him to buy me a Mercedes Benz. Mind you, a Chevy like the guy at the warehouse has would do. Greed is a sin after all.

WOW, Thank you Willfulbrat. I honestly didn't think anyone would choose that answer.

Why do you think no one wants to give a real answer? Is it really as bad a question as "how many lovers you had?"? [/B]
I'm not really sure, Todd, but I think that people are afraid of being judged or rejected for their beliefs (like they are afraid of being judged by the number of lovers they've had.) Maybe the reason so few were willing to confess that Jesus is the Lord of their lives is because they are afraid of being seen as hypocritical for being both a Christian and a member of this site. For me, there was no option but to answer that he is Lord, or I would be in danger of being rejected by God on Judgement Day.

Would not have seemed perfectly sane..."

Lord and Lunatic, obviously...

A man who had studied much in the schools of wisdom finally died in the fullness of time and found himself at the gates of heaven.

An angel of light approached him and said, "Go no further, O mortal, until you have proven to me your worthiness to enter into Paradise!"

But the man answered, "Just a minute, now. First of all, can you prove to me this is a real Heaven and not just the wishful fantasy of my disordered mind undergoing death?"

Before the angel could reply, a voice from inside the gates shouted:

"Let him in - he's one of us!"

*sigh*

Todd, darlin', you have missed my point entirely.

Ever heard anything to the effect of--God's wisdom being foolish to man?

God incarnate must have seemed like a raving lunatic to a lot of folks at that time--hell, he seems like a raving lunatic to folks nowadays, too--

So, I follow a holy lunatic. Without question.

What's so hard to understand?

Waht I was trying to get at with the question of the thread that caused the confusion to me with your answer was this.

If He is Lord then he is God and I accept him at what hes says. My belief

If he is a Lunatic then he was just a crazy person with delusions of grandeur.

If he is a liar then every thing he teaches must be thrown out the window, for how is one to know which aspects of spirituality he was ling about and which he was telling the truth about.

Well said, Ranajja.

Ah! The word "lunatic" apparently brings different mental images for you than it does for me.

But I think I understand your point.

"It may be the Devil
It may be the Lord,
But you're gonna have to serve somebody..."

Bob Dylan
