Lords will be Ladies!

Mongo

Mongo rumbled, "You too small, little manling! Mongo show you how to mount horse." The massive half-ogre walked up behind one of the mares and started to unbuckle his pants. Nara's eyes widened, and she snapped out, "Don't you even think about it, freak! He meant ride the godsdamned thing, not fuck it!"

"Oh. Sorry." Mongo reached down, way down, and picked up the dwarf by his belt, then dropped him on the smallest of the horses' back.

Cole

Cole sighed and threw up his hands in frustration. There was no pleasing the wench! Waiting for her to return from her room, he thought maybe that she had heard some song birds out her window and thought their song not good enough for her and so she leaned out to tell them so and fell out and onto the courtyard.

That pleasant thought was dashed as she stepped out of the door and instantly replaced with another one.

The sight of the princess dressed in traveling clothes was even better than her dressed in floucy frills and Cole was unable to say anything as she marched past him. It took him playing over all the scenes of her downgrading him before he could move after her.

Going to where she sat, he put a hand under her elbow and guided her out of the door to the horse he had prepared for her. They were just in time to meet Mongo and Cole's eyes narrowed at the site of the creature.

"For a noble you keep strange company," He said to their hostess before helping the princess onto her horse and then mounting his own.

Princess Mel

The Princess's eyes widened in shock as the giant beast-troll thing pulled down his pants and drew out his massive erect member. Her face flushed brightly in embarrassment, and she whirled around in order to put the offensive image out of her sight.

While Nara reprimanded the big ogre for his uncivilized behavior, Mel remained silent. For the first time in her life, she was absolutely speechless.

Cole

Cole's mouth drew into a tight line at Mel's obvious discomfort and he grasped the reigns of her horse and drew her away from the scene.

"We will meet you when you are done," He said tersely to thier host.

To Mel, he said,"I apologize that you had to see that, Princess. And I urge you to stay away from the big brute. Do not worry. If he should try approaching you, he will have to go through me first."

His smile was hard as were his eyes. "I may not be as big but he will certaintly not have an easy time of it. I doubt he would be in any shape for anything once he did."

Princess Mel

Mel looked at Cole for a moment, and opened her mouth to speak. She wanted to tell him to be silent, that she could take care of herself.

Instead, she merely turned away and nodded silently. Although she was his better, treating him so harshly when he was only trying to help would just be plain mean.

"I... um, thank you." She said, looking at the ground as it passed beneath her mount. "You shall be well rewarded when this whole incident is over."

Cole

Cole chuckled softly and shook his head.

"Princess," He said, a smile on his face,"What makes you think I want anything from you or your father? I am not doing this as a reward but for my own satisfaction. I do not like seeing anyone...be they noble or servant...treated badly. My reward will be seeing you back where you belong. You can keep your money, titles, land and everything else you could reward me with. I am a simple man with simple pleasures. I am content with myself and that is all I need."

Changing the subject, he said,"Now, lets get you situated and maybe meet our fellow travelers." Pointing to a lady knight, he said,"I assume you are familiar with those of her ilk?"

Erin Rathe

I'd seen several odd things in my time, but the Half-Ogre misinterpreting the word "Mount" was one of the most shockingly funny things I'd seen in a while. Still, it was unlikely that a person of my station and gender seem anything but appalled at the oafish display. I averted my gaze, sincerely hoping that the poor horse would not be ravished by Mongo. I was glad of my armor, though, for it hid my shoulders shaking with silent laughter. The Wyvernspur was definitely not a flake or a dilletante, if she commanded a half-ogre. It was then that I noticed the Princess again, talking to that brooding sort of fellow in the black riding leathers. He chose that moment to point at me.

I wonder what they're talking about? I thought as they nudged their horses over toward me.

Princess Mel

"Well, from her armor, I would guess that she is a Knight of Torm," said the Princess. "We had several of that order's members stay with us during various state functions at the castle. They usually kept to themselves."

Cole

Cole smiled, a twinkle in his eyes. "Ah, but I assume she would be worthy of conversation from your royal highness, unlike myself. Why dont we go and introduce ourselves and you can practice being pleasant."

He almost added that she could use all the practice she could get but bit his tongue as they rode forward.

Inclining his head toward the lady knight, he said,"Hello, I am Cole and this is The Princess Mel. We are with the traveling party and thought to aquaint ourselves with the others we will be traveling with."

Erin Rathe

I smiled at them. "My name is Erin Rathe, and yes, my father is that Nicholas Rathe. I'm kind of following in his footsteps." He blinked twice when he saw my eyes, or maybe it was the mention of my father, I don't know. "You, sir, seem to know your way around a caravan. I got trampled a few times trying to help stow gear earlier, and the head stableman shooed me off just in time to see thatdisplay." I wrinkled my nose, then turned to the princess.

I ducked my head, brushing knuckles to forehead in a sort of salute. My claymore was a little large for a more formal salute. "Greetings, Princess. I.. stand at your disposal." This was the first time chivalry had placed me in a position to say that to a female member of the upper nobility, and oddly, I didn't find it degrading in the least, though I did blush and stumble over it.

Princess Mel

"Greetings, Good Knight of the Order," said the Princess as she nodded civilly. It struck her strange that the Knights of Torm would appoint a woman to such a high rank; after all it was universally known that men were much better sword fighters than women. Women belonged at the house, tending the duties of the home, or else working in positions that did not require such icky physical exertions.

"Oh well," thought Mel, "The Order of Torm are a strange lot."

Out loud, she said, "I am most greatful that you are accompanying our little group on its expedition, Sir... er.... Madame Rathe. It shall do well for us to have such a swordsma- er, woman of great skill to aid us in case of trouble."

Erin Rathe

I smiled at her discomfiture; apparently chauvinism was not exclusively a male trait. "May it please your highness, the most proper form of address for a Knight of my rank is Lady. Being far from arms yourself, one understands the confusion in address. Might one inquire how your highness came to be involved so directly in what is sure to be a physically difficult challenge?" I caught the man in black's sharp glance; he's not used to giving information out easily, and he doesn't fully trust his companion to keep defensively close-mouthed. That one glance told me that he was not one of her regular bodyguard, even the secretive ones that some Royalty hire to spy on their relatives.

Cole

Cole looked up sharply at the question and then at Mel. He just knew the princess was going to spill the beans when what they needed was secrecy. Time for him to intecede.

"The princess has told our host that her father is sending her to look upon some lands for him. Sort of training for when she gets married and has to deal with things as a queen instead of a mere princess," He could not help a smirk at the last comment.

"The lady in charge is a friend of hers and so here we are," He had couched his statement so as not to directly lie to the Lady. His own past as a knight...before assigned to special duty...gave him too much respect for the position to do that. Still the princess' life was on the line and he would not have it endangered. Even by one who held such an honorable title.

"And, may we inquire as to what the Lady Rathe is doing in the party?"

Erin Rathe

I raised an eyebrow at his evasion.

"Truthfully? Boredom." I said. "There's scarce enough injustice in this town to keep a bailiff busy, leave alone a Knight of Torm. This looked like a chance to do some good elsewhere." I couldn't supress a chuckle. "Besides, the local tavern wenches were getting over the novelty of a female client." I laughed at their facial expressions. "Sorry. Mother used that joke all the time. At least, I think she was joking...." I was smiling.

ooc I am still around and I will post on Thuresday just very tired right now

OOC

If anyone else wants to run this thread, go for it. My workload at school has gotten downright obscene, so I'm not going to be running any threads for a while. I'll still play, if anyone else wants to take the reins, but I won't be posting but a couple of times each week. My apologies to each of you for bailing on you like this, but it simply cannot be helped.
