This is probably the only place I feel okay at asking this question without getting flamed at, but I wanna try to reduce/lose the "love handle" and "mini-beer belly" I have slowly growing. My gf said that below the mini-beer belly (she calls it a bread loaf cause it goes up and down like the top part of a bread) is some 4-pack muscle, but because of the fat, it doesn't show. I started reducing the amount of food I eat, but besides that, I don't really know how to start. Any suggestions like exercise things I can do, food or habits I can do (besides drinking more water), etc. ?

Love handles and beer bellies are the generic fat storage areas for the body, so any excercise regimen should reduce them -- provided they're not the result of "middle-aged spread." Around age 35-40 you're going to have to work harder and specifically target those areas because of changes in your metabolism that will in the natural course of things add 15-20 pounds in those areas -- it's just part of getting older.

If you're generally fit, a jogging and/or daily exercise session should suffice -- sit-ups, push-ups, stretching excercises, etc. If that doesn't show results in about six-months, you might need to consult a trainer at an athletic club or gym for ways to specificlly target the areas youwant to reduce.

I've always found that exercise is much more effective than any form of dieting.

For me, the trick is to not make exercise an option, but something that must be done. I do this by making it part of a daily schedule, and trick myself that going running isn't any more of an option as going to work is optional.

A potential mechanism might be to sell the car and run / cycle to work. But then that sort of thing depends on circumstances. Speaking from experience, cycling 30 miles a day to and from work isn't actually as extreme as it sounds, but then as quite light exercise it might not make too much of an impact on your tum dependant on how bad the problem is.

What they said. :cathappy:

Also, it's called a beer belly for a reason, every drunk has a beer belly, no matter how little they eat. Basically I am saying that if you drink beer daily, cut it back to seldom. Not all at once of course, but reduce your drinking as fast as you can stand and cut back on the number when you do.

Also should say, any alchohol will do the same thing as beer, if all you drink is scotch you will get a beer belly. I met a scotch drinker, he proudly displayed his scotch belly to me.

The key to losing weight is to burn more calories than you consume. This means that all-around you should:

1. Reduce your portions.
2. Eat foods that aren't rich in calories.
3. Exercise to raise your metabolism and burn off more calories.

You don't have to starve to lose weight; just watch what kind of foods you're eating. You could eat a whole bag of grapes and it would be better for you than a single cookie, for instance.

I shall listen to many of your advice. One question still reminds: what kind of excersise besides bike/walk can I do? Also:

I call it "mini" cause it looks sorta like it, but I don't drink at all. Nothing major is hanging out, but its kinda starting to form.

Please keep giving more advice. Sorta like a brainstorm....

What kind of activities do you like to do? Run, hike, ski, snowshoe, swim, lift weights, golf, dance, stuff at home or in a gym, in a class, yoga or pilates? I'm more likely to do and stick to things I enjoy, and I think that's true for most people. You can also incorporate exercise into your day by taking the stairs, parking farther from the store or work, getting your heartrate up in 10-minute intervals several times a day, using an exercise/swiss ball as a chair at your desk or while watching tv, etc.

Burn burn burn

Hey. Ok there are 3 things you need to do. 1) Low calorie diet(More protein&less carbs is ideal as it will boost ur BMR). 2)Exercise,everyday. Crunches, both abdominal& side crunches. For Abs,lay flat on ur back, bend ur knees & pick ur chest up the ground about 6 inches or so,then back down. If u can do 100 of these a day its an accomplishment, anything less isn't. Break em up into sets.

Cont...

U can also do 50 and then do 50 leg raises: Lay flat and raise legs(works the tummy tube more). Side crunches get rid of the love handles in no time, lay on ur side,1 hand on ur hip and the other arm bent, lift ur torso of the ground. Do 2 sets of 15 on each side. 3) Dedication : Do not do it for a week and then quit and DO NOT eat more as a compensation for ur hard work! Get that 6pack(Abs)!

Situps, pushups, jumping jacks, and all of those other calesthenics you hated in PE class -- it doesn't really matter what you do for exercise as long as you burn more calories than you eat.

There's Yoga, Pilates, and dozens of celebrity exercise tapes to follow along with -- find some celebrity babe you like to ogle and buy her excercise tape.

Just remember the point is to follow along and exercise, not just drool at the celebrity babe(s) excercising; drooling at hot babes excercising might bring your heartrate up but it's not realy excercising. :p

my prof. in psychology told us that sex in the morning
can burn 250 calories in our body..
