Lost city.( vampire, lycan etc roleplay,Open to all)

The sofa crashed into Marcus' body and he slammed into the opposite wall...dazed, he looked up and saw the lycan approaching...feeling for his shotgun, he braced himself for the attack...the attack that didn't came....instead the creature did something he wasn't expecting...it started to talk.....with the rage still burning in his veins.. he reached out for the sawed-off shotgun on his hip...“Your petty words won't save you this time” ... “Die you lycan scum” he muttered as he leveled the gun to the cats chest....

"Quite so indeed."

She studied him, before flashing her seductive smile. She walked smoothly, fluidly towards him, but stopped a healthy distance of ten feet or more from him.

"Talia had some dealings with you, I believe, of which would benefit us both. I am pleased to continue them."

She felt a stirring inside her. No, she wasn't the only one of her kind left in the city afterall.

(OOC: Wow..I feel like it's been three years since I posted. Work has been insane since our manager left so I'm in charge :) been working too many damn hours lately. Anyhow, will try and jump back in if no one minds.)

IC:
I stood on the rooftop for the longest time, trying to catch all scraps of conversation that drifted my way. The lycan called Happy Jack was talking, talking to that new power that Garnet had felt. I listened for his name....Tassiar, it seemed he was called. Laurent stood next to me on the rooftop, just as silent a statue as I was. I smiled in his direction, glad for his company. But I had made the desicion not to approach the strange lycan and his happy friend for now. Whatever he wanted from me could wait, but I had a feeling it had to do with my feeding habits.

I had hardly noticed how much time had gone by, when the younger lycan left the warehouse and made his way back to wherever he was staying. The sun would soon be up. I shuddered against the sharp night air, and silently informed Laurent that I was returning to the penthouse. Then I misted my way back across the city, the same way I had come. With the rising sun, I slept soundly. Little did I know that I would awaken to a new world.

When I woke, I immediately noticed that there was something missing. Well, two things. Talia. I could no longer sense her prescense. Nor that of Laurent I began to worry that the Lycan from last night had done them both in. But it was not that. I could still sense the both of them, out there somewhere, just not near to me. Talia it seemed, had left the city, but as for Laurent, I did not have a close enough bond with him to determine his exact location. "Farewell, my sister," I sent to Talia softly, not knowing whether her sudden departure meant she had blocked me from her mind as well.

With that I set out into the city. Garnet was still out there somewhere, but I had no real desire to interact with her. Not to mention there was something new and different about the fledgling as well. I could feel her power flowing as I leapt from rooftop to rooftop. It seemed that she was taking Talia's abscense as a new oppurtunity for herself.

Rooftop to rooftop, street after street I travelled, when I heard the screams of some helpless human down among the masses. I dropped to the ground to examine the situation. An old man sat, clutching his twisted hands to his chest and wailing desperately. My first thought was "food", but then there was the unmistakeable swimming of my head. Unbearable rage coming from the house across the street where the old man sat. And the lycan scent. And then, as if to add more sensation to my overwhelmed senses, the ancient arrived. She had come to watch the fight. Lycan vs. Hunter.

Quickly, I took action. I lifted the old man from the ground and turned us both to mist. Reforming on a main city street, I hailed a taxi and shoved him in it. Then reaching up the skirt that I wore, I grabbed a wad of bills and shoved it in his pocket. "There's for the taxi ride, and the hospital, old man. I am sure Happy Jack will find you later." Yes, the old one was one of the homeless that Jack care so much for. I could read his name on the old man's thoughts, and with his name came a desperate hope for his safety.

Turning once more, I misted my way into the house, but instead of reforming, I hung on the ceiling trying to keep out of the fight that was going on below. Having already done one good deed for the evening, I hoped the lynx would appreciate the alliance that he would have if things started to go ugly.

The hunter was good, no mistaking that. But 20 some odd years of life and training is nothing compared to centuries of fending for yourself. For the moment Jack was ok, but I let him know..."If you need help, lycan, I am here."

I wasn't exactly sure WHY I was there, but with Talia and Laurent gone...and Garnet going on a powertrip...it seemed I would need new allies. And who better than a centuries old lycan?

She felt a stirring inside her. No, she wasn't the only one of her kind left in the city afterall.

"Talia? Who's that? I've never heard of her. She another vampire? What sort of dealings of hers would you 'wish to continue'?"

He watches the young vampire before him, studying her, ready to react the instant she makes any sort of threatening move.

"If it's peaceful relations you want, I'll listen to what you have to say. If it's merely bloodshed, then there will be far less talking between us."

He felt the feather light touch of the young vampire on the edges of his mind, and might have smiled had he not been busy at the moment. If she was wanting to be friends, then Jack was more than willing to oblige. Seeing the shotgun, however, and knowing full well that the hunter wouldn't be so foolish as to threaten him with non-silvered shot, the old cat reacted instantly, all thoughts of responding to her pushed to the back of his mind for now.

Claws dug for purchase in the old floorboards, leaving a trail of gouges behind him, and by the time the splinters had fallen his blood engorged muscles has driven him across the short distance between them. Being a Were Cat, Jack was possessed of the same startling speed, the same whipping velocities as any other, but being a Lynx, a member of a subset of sprint-hunters, there were few that could match him over short distances.

Even as he moved, his mind formulated a plan. He still had no real desire to kill the boy, despite the provocation, so instead was aiming his left hand in an undersweeping arc that would catch the wooden brace of the weapon and drive it upward, even as he drove his right forearm into the upper chest of the man, driving him backwards and knocking the wind out of him. Even through Body armor, this would end the fight, and give him a chance to save the human from his own rage. Had he encountered anyone other than Jack, there would have been little hope for such a reprieve.

Just before he struck, a split second before contact was made, the creature known to so many as Happy Jack sensed another presence, one he had not thought to feel again... Hidden there in the shadows... lurking in the dark near the ceiling, was the Vampiric mistress of this mouldering city, the one and only Anise. He had been here, a worker in what was then a small mining and lumber town, when she had arrived so long ago, and though they had spoken often during her reign, the two had shared only cool relations, neither one giving too much away to the other. They both knew how to play the long game...

Anise having come just at the right time reveals herself from the depths of the darkness as her form perches over the two sparing males. The reply given to Jack's simple acknowledgement is a simple gleam from exposed fangs as red painted lips curl upwards in a half smirking grin. The hint of playfullness flows across yellow sepentine orbs before the soft hint of mumured speech flows from Anise. The expression that held happiness gone within a brief second,Replaced now with slight ire."So nice to see you once more again Jack....Tsk Tsk have you gone soft in old age...Or does that foolish hunter hold something better served to you alive then in death?"Anise releasing the hold upon the ceiling simply drops to land behind Jack.Silently before making her path to set down upon one the chairs the room holds.Turning her attention around the room as a left hand rises to cover a yawn that tells of two things. One Anise had grown bored and Two the battle deffinately needs more bloodshed.Turning her line of sight back towards Jack's back Anise mutters faintly before trying her best to look inocent " And here i came to watch bloodshed...Hmph what is it with these times. Are the old fashoined outright maiming and slaughter dead as i am?"

Rushing forward, his enemy before him, Jack felt a strange energy spark down the length of his spine. Around him, he watched as the colors of the room seemed to flow, to catch and drag across the surface of his vision as the very air around him seemed to gel. Time slowed… and he felt that near-serpentine voice whisper across his mind…

It had been a long time since he had communicated with a creature this powerful, this old… he had forgotten this particular trick of perception. He had not slowed, he had not been frozen. It was simply that his mentality and hers were acting and reacting so quickly that his other senses could not quite keep up… ”It has been a long time indeed, Lady Anise.” he thought back at her, projecting the impression of his trademark grin. ”I trust that you are well rested? As for the Hunter, I simply have no real reason to kill him. Once I have ascertained exactly why he feels justified in attacking me, I will decide how to deal with him, have no doubt.

There have indeed been changes while you slept, and I am glad to have the chance to speak to you about them. The humans have grown wary and resourceful over the last few decades, and have developed a few nasty surprises for our kind and kin. They are watchful, they are well armed, and they are organized. Random Hunters such as this one are rare, while roaming packs of overzealous vigilantes can be found every time we hunt or gather.”

Shifting his focus back to the gun-wielding antagonist before him, Jack paused in his inner monologue for a moment, almost as if considering something before speaking again, saying ”Once I have dealt with this upstart, we should take the time to renew our friendship, yes? I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you once again.

Turning her line of sight once more towards Jack orbs glow slightly brighter at the news of what the humans have become like.Their action's undesirable to Anise brings the simple reply of a snarl then exposed fangs once more.Tilting her head to the left slightly before speaking once again." Tell me more of what has come to pass. The humans actuall seek to rise up againts me...Againts us?" Soft laughter spills past parted lips then a slight shake of Anise's head ends that line of thought for the time being.Smiling softly towards Jack yet again." I do not see why we would not pick up where we have left off.I can even say that if i have missed any you would fill that place." Anise's words not meant to be insulting but kind.Glancing back towards Static once more she offers another smile then nods." Do forgive me if i have come across as rude." Falling silent once more as Anise allows her sight to drop towards the floor before her bare feet.Drifting into deep thought once more about her plans to deal with any humans that desire to get in her way.Mumuring faintly " They forget who their true masters are....The concept that my wealth has brought about change for the better for them." Clenching her right fist as her long sharpened nails dig and cut into her palm brings blood to be spilled as her anger rises at such behavior from those she had been kind to.Another faint growl then turning her line of sight upwards towards the two men once more." I am in a good mood for the time being.I will not allow the sheep to ruin it for now." Offering another warm smile before rising slowly to stand once more." Stop the fighting....I am sure that at least a truce will suffice for the time being?"

She regarded the being before with mild annoyance. Apparently this was not the one she needed to speak to. The one with the funny grin was the one Talia had spoken to. Not that it mattered anymore. She could sense...feel...an older...much more powerful being than her in this city. She could now go on with her plans without trying to uphold some sort of flimsy agreement that her Maker had devised.

"Well, apparently you are not the one privy to such a discussion."

She walked towards him, her form turning into millions of points of light, untill she was parallel to him, and then the points burst into every single direction.

She reappeared a few blocks over. her body was hungry, and she did not excersize precaution when she chose her victim, but instead dragged the young man into an alley out of brute force and drank him nearly dry. She let the body lay there, with no desire to clean up after herself. So be it that the humans knew something was wrong.

Shrugging, he steps out of the alley, pnly to be decapitated by a silver sword.

The strong Lycan's blow was too much to take...even for Marcus' high tolerance for pain, he phased out with the image of the all-too-familiar ceilng art pattern. his coat open, shirt ripped and plates' links broken, the titanium armor slid off marcus' chest-revealing a portion of some kind of a mark-a tatoo-a symbol of some kind...

The body flying backward, the sound of wrenching metal and tearing fabric, and it was over. Jack stood up again, shaking his stocky frame to knock the dust from his coat, and walked up to look at the fallen Hunter. This man had been better protected than most, and Jack had nearly been forced to make the battle more real and permanent than he had intended... It had been a long time since he had been forced to kill to defend himself.

He turned slightly, facing the two vampire maidens nearby. One very old, one so young he could still smell the humanity of her, and spoke quietly, his rumbling voice seeming to fill the room as he said "I thank you, Miss, for your offer of assistance, as well as helping Gary, the human who's scent you still carry. In compensation, allow me to make an introduction. This is the Lady Anise Lecroix, an elder of your race, and Vampiric Mistress of this city. Anise, this is a youngling that I have been interested in for some time now, though I don't rightly know her name. She was travelling with one called Talia, a vampire of ancient age from the old Roman civilizations, though I couldn't tell ya where she is at the moment. Talia and I have been hammering out a treaty between our camps. This one, however..." he said, nodding toward the crumpled form lying nearby, "And others like him, could well ruin any plans for such a peace."

He began examining the inconscious form, removing weapons and bits of armor to get a clear view... and make the boy a bit less apt to launch another attack if he woke up... His black-tufted ears twitched slightly, catching the faint traces of the humans breathing, the thudding reverberations of the heartbeat within his... chest. What the hell was that?! Squatting down, the Lynx moved the remaining armor aside and examined the mans chest carfully. Yes... the symbols were the same. "Anise my dear... your memory of the strata within this city's society could help me solve a little mystery. Do you recall who owed this house originally? This whelp has a tattoo that matches the markings I discovered here, specifically on a hidden door..."

Anise turns her line of sight towards the fledgling then offers a soft smile and simply nod to the young kindred.Thoughts blocked about the youngster as Anise turns her attention towards the Hunter now motionless.Listening to Jack as yellow orbs continue to examine the hunter.Lips curl aslightly downwards into a frown before parting to emit a reply.Orbs turning to gaze intently towards Jack's own." I know not of such things." Taking a few steps towards the Hunter before allowing her line of sight to drift from Jack to the hunter yet again." It apears that i have made an error in my slumbering the time away."Giving into the moments calm Anise suddenly smiles softly before chuckling " One word about womaen and their Beauty rest..." Turning to face the kindred Anise gazes upon her then simply asks in a soft tone" I hope you are farring well ?.If there is anyhting you should need just call to me." Turning back to face Jack Anise shakes her head." Hidden door....marked with the same symbol of this mans marking's?.Most interesting.Care to show me sometime?"

"I can show you now, if you have no other plans..." Jack replied with a shrug, rising to stand beside the elder Vampire "Just let me tidy up a bit here."

Walking over to the mound of weaponry that he had removed from the Hunter, the Lynx rummaged around for a moment before finding a blade of suitable size. Moving then to the shattered remnants of the once-comfortable sofa, he began cutting strips out of the thick upholstery that had served as its padded backrest and deftly wove them into several strands of braided rope. Going then to the fallen Hunter, he flipped the body over and began binding him. Arms stacked behind the back, one hand cupping the opposite elbow, Jack wound the stout braid around the forearms, interweaving between them and making certain that there would be no way the man could free himself. Moving to the legs, he used the same interweave technique to bind the unconscious form at both ankles and knees, even going so far as to remove the mans boots to secure his bindings. "There!" he said with an air of accomplishment "I knew working at that kinky little leather shop for two years might come in handy someday!"

Tying one final braid as a teather from the ankle restraints to a handily exposed waterpipe in the smashed wall nearby, Happy jack turned to the other occupants of the room and said "The door is just over here, if you want to explore a bit."

Anise watching Jack make a path towards the fallen hunter. Red painted lips curl upwards slightly into a smirk before Anise mumurs " As if teeth and claws are not enough." Then bites down upon her tongue to silence the last word of her sentence.Anise simply thinks it instead.< Men! > Smiling sweetly towards Jack before nodding once. " I shall acompany you to the door you have found." Then Anise chuckles softly " Are you sure that he is tied tight enough?" The glance towards the hunter causes Anise to shake her head slightly thinking Jack had gone a bit overboard. Anise makes a path to stand beside Jack before lifting her left arm in offering for the Bastet to take.Smiling once more as Anise glances back towards the fledgling then turns to gaze to Jack once more." Shall we?"

As the image of the ceiling faded to black nothingness...Marcus drifted into a feverish dream...as always it was bits and pieces of his childhood...it was the eve of his 6th birthday...he woke up and found himself leather-bound to what he knew was an operating table...he tried to scream for his father but was too weak to...”shh... be strong now my son” he heard his fathers pacifying voice in the darkness...the image of the syringe in his fathers hand was the last thing he saw before fading out again....Now 21 years later lying on the hard floorboard and bound, his muscles tensed as images of monstous abominations..bats-wolves-blood and mutilated flesh.....coursed through his unconsciousness. Sweat formed like dews all over his body except in creases of skin scarred not only by bites and claw marks, but with blades and bullets as well...

(Welcome Trisha ^^)

Anise still waiitng for Jack to grasp hold of her offered arm turns her head to glance over her left shoulder towards the form of Marcus. Images of his memories reaching her thoughts brings the reaction of a deep frown at the images that would horrify most. Only makes Anise give a simple shake of her head before parted lips give rise to a sigh followed by mumured words. " Poor soul..." Then a sudden loud hiss at the sensation of a kindred lossing its life. Anise turns to face the rooms window then closing her eyes allows her senses to pick up the scene as the image of a young woman lifts a fallen breathern to dissapear into the eve. Anise simply laughs softly then mumurs " An attack that led to a deserved death." Turning back to face Jack Anise simply shakes her head then mutters " And most wonder why so few of us live to be so old...I shall not harbor those that are just not smart enough to realize that chaos and random slaughter just leads to our decline"

Smiling up at the self-styled Queen, Jack took her cold arm in his own and began escorting her through the shattered remnants of the once grand hall. "My sentiments exactly, dear Lady." he said with a tip of his furry head "Those that slaughter their prey just for the fun of it have always been the ones that cause the most trouble for us... And it always seems that these uncaring folk are the ones that the humans find first. It ain't no wonder that the place is crawlin' with Hunters, not with all the fuss they raise."

Stepping through the debris-filled chambers, the wily old Cat stopped before the doorway he had seen earlier, and released Anise's arm to trace the outline of it's proportions, easing his clawed hands around the edges of the hidden frame, and checking for any difficulties they might have in opening it. At last, however, satisfied that there were no secreted traps, he stood back up and pointed at the slight depression he had noticed in the yellowed wallpaper here, leaning forward slightly to tear through it, revealing the carved design underneath.

Using his claws freely, the Lynx was quick to unveil the intricate detai of the work, the engraved and oddly familiar pattern that had been cleverly disguised beneath the papery veneer of civility. Here was a ward, pure and absolute, placed here for a single purpose. Once it had been revealed in its entirety he knew it, once he had seen those carved lines and curves he could feel it, and understood. The tattoo the boy wore was but a pale reflection of this, and held none of it's power. If it had, Jack would never have beaten him... Here was an ancient ward against those that walked the night, both Vampire and Lycan. Faced with this ward, he knew that they were in a place that should not be. There was a secret indeed hidden here, one that was not supposed to be found.

"Damn..." he breathed quietly "Somebody knew what the hell they were doin' here. This place is barred to us, Lady Anise... we can't open it. There is one here, however, that can." Winking at the Elder, the stubby Lycan left her momentarily, jogging back to the bound form of the Hunter.

Cutting him loose from the tether with a swipe of his claws, the Werecat hefted his trussed form up to a shoulder and carried him quickly back to the waiting form of Anise. "Sorry 'bout this boy." he said quietly "But you got the only chance here of openin' this thing." Drawing the unconscious form down from his shoulder, Jack gave a slight grin to the waiting Vampire, and casually tossed the unknowing and restrained body of the Hunter through the door they had found...
