OOC I was waiting for the fight behind us! Aww, I'll give them until Monday and then post a fitting response. Have a great holiday all.

Chu-Hua Li, The Renegade

I could see the mad violence of the Hun in his eyes from 50 yards away as he charged toward me. I recognized the trappings of the empire on the horse he rode and my blood turned cold with hate and my heart filled with scorn for this brute. From the advantageous terrain I held, it would be a violent fight, but one that I could win, despite his superior size and strength. Drawing my sabre and extending it to battle position, I took one last look over my shoulder at the princess, and seeing the Ye Qian had arrived to protect her, I rose up in the saddle and prepared for the onslaught.

He charged and I parried; each time he came at me, I was able to defend myself. Trying to wear him out, I maneuvered my dark horse in circles, giving him a target and then taking it away. I waited for the chance, the opening, the opportunity to slay this Hun.

As his frustration grew, and he tired of my tactics, he made one last desperate charge, swinging his sword wildly. I saw my opening and my glinting sabre was buried deeply into him. Twisting it to make his death secure, I withdrew my bloody sword and watched as he began to slip from the saddle witha stunned look on his face.

But as I turned about to look for the princess, I felt the burning pain of a cold blade in my back. On his way to the ground, the filthy Hun had managed to wound me in the left side. I felt the handle of a knife as I reached behind me. At first it felt like nothing, but as I felt the warmth of my blood seep out and a faintness sweep over me, I slipped from my mount, and stood, then fell to the ground as the Princess and Ye Qian ran to my side.

"Go!" I cried out to the Princess as she knelt over me. "Get away from here. Go with Ye Qian to where it is safe. He will help you!"

I looked up at the face of my one-time rival. We exchanged a look that spoke of many things and overcame the long silence of my exhile.

"If I survive, I will come to help you. Now go!"

In my eyes, the face of the beautiful young princess became that of her mother, the empress, my one-time lover, and I struggled to say what I had been long denied. But the faces began to fade away into the mist of this battlefield and I slipped into a dream of long ago, a beautiful young princess, and a young officer in the Emperor's Elite Guard.

Chien Lee

Ye Qian and I emerged from the forrest to obsever the scene before us. I watched as Chu-Hua Li and the hun foght till they both fell. I ran to his side and tried to doctor him up but he was quick to push my assistance away as he faded in and out of our reality.

"If I survive, I will come to help you. Now go!" he spoke slowly.

I ran my fingers through his hair in order to comfort him till he drifted back to sleep. I bandaged his wounds as best I could with bits and peices from the hem of my dress.

"Heal and be well my dear renegade, you are brave. My mother was right about you. I restore you honor. Now heal and be well."

I stood from where he lie and continued the search for the body of my father.

Gonz

Gonz lept from tree to tree, making his way back to the village and castle. the huns had been diverted for now. there were two people searching through the rubble, and a third on the ground. he ran across the field, but stopped before he got too close. Gonz called out. "the huns will be back! you must flee! it is not safe here, run, if you need help i can carry your fallen friend."

YE QIAN

His duty called for him to flee with the princess whilst they still could. His honor, however, bid him to stay and help his former friend. His eyes narrowed as he regarded the wild eyed magical one with the usual disdain soldiers have for magicians and wizards. Ye Qian took no advice from these folk!

Bidding the princess to stay at his side for protection, Ye staunched the crimson flow of blood from Chu Hua then tied it tight with a strip of cloth torn from his shirt. It worked for now, although he must soon release the bond else Chu Hua would die.

Gesturing to the magical one to help, he wrapped on arm around Chu Hua as they carried him deep into the wood's dark recesses and safety. The princess tended the fallen mercenary, her obvious caring emotions surprised Ye Qian. He built a fire to keep her warm, never sheathing his long sword as he did not trust the strangers.

Once, long ago he had trained with Chu Hua. They had been like brothers. Then to save face, he had taken the blame for a devasting loss that Ye Qian knew he was not responsible for. Still, someone had to pay, and the general was not an option. Chu Hua had been lucky to have his life spared. The only man left alive that knew the truth now was Ye Qian. He looked at the princess for the first time as a woman. She had grown nicely, breasts full and hips no longer girlishly thin. He banished those thoughts, at least for the moment.

He spoke. -

Princess, at first light we must leave. The forest is infested with Gai Jin , they number as many as the leaves on the trees. All who are able may go. Chu Hua may be ready, he may not. Magic man, if you know healing arts, now is the time...
