...making plans...
Love is...something different for me than it is for most people, I think. It's something I've been thinking a lot about lately. For me, it's more of a fluid thing. People come in and out of our lives. Some stay, some don't. Some you love with deep affection, some with an eye-rolling sense of obligation, some with passion. If you're lucky, affection and passion can come together to make something wonderful for a while. Sometimes I go for a long time without anyone new; sometimes those loves overlap. I think that's only natural. The thing is...I don't look at it as some solid, intractable thing. It ebbs and flows, and it doesn't exist in a vacuum. I've been in love with more than one person at a time. I've been in love with no one. And although it may seem contradictory, I've never stopped loving anyone I truly loved at one time. And there have been quite a few! I love with hopes, but no expectations. It may be returned to me, it may not. But the loving in itself is a gift.
Love, for me, should not equal possession. I would fully expect my partner, if I had one, to feel the same way about that. It seems illogical to me that when you meet and fall in love with someone, you're saying that you're never going to love anyone else. I believe in commitment, but that commitment is whatever you choose it to be. I don't think you can ever go wrong by being honest with each other. If someone's been getting on your nerves, you tell them. If you're feeling attracted to someone else, well, that's definitely something you should talk about. I guess what I like are the semi-open relationships, if that makes any sense. I like the idea of having someone in my life as a constant, but I wouldn't expect either of us to never feel an attraction to someone else.
I suppose my outlook makes me "weird", but it feels normal to me. It always surprises me when someone assumes that I have more traditional expectations. When I really love someone, I don't want more from them than they can give. That wouldn't be love in my mind; that would be more like a power play, or a game. And that's just not me. I love openly. Honestly. With an open heart, open mind, and more importantly, open eyes.
*grin* But maybe that's just me.
Beautifully put. And it's not just you.![]()

Love is...
Love is, losing yourself in someone, and not wanting to be found again.
Love isn't about finding the perfect person, but learning to see an imperfect
person, perfectly.
Love is...not only accepting your partner's quirks, eccentricities, (and yes, even and especially their flaws), but celebrating them. Without them, they wouldn't be the person they are.
