Lube and Condoms

Real lube is easy enough to get, cheap, and safe. I don't know why anyone would go for the other stuff.

But, in general they say oil based lubes can damage condoms.

I have to agree with Tele...you're better off with real lube as far as health and condom integrity go. Apart from not being condom safe, a lot of oils and food products like butter can cause infections, and doctors and drugs are a hell of a lot more costly than real lube.

Generic KY is ultra cheap at mass merchandisers like Walmart, and we keep some of that on hand, though we're not huge fans of it. We bought a small bottle (100ml, I think) of Wet Original online for about $4 last year, and despite frequent use, we still have a fair amount left. Our next purchase will be a silicone lube for handjobs, anal, etc., and even that's cheap online (Amazon.com has great prices, oddly enough).

What roaches one and what doesn't? Water based lube obviously is made as condom safe.... but what other household products arn't going to "split the seam" as it were?

hand lotions?
canola oil?

While I'm all for "buttery goodness", I have to agree with SweetErika on this one. I know that vegetable oil can both degrade condoms and cause some wierd effects on the female body, as they feed bacteria and can cause natural bacteria to turn on you!

Don't ask how I know this, it's a long story, I was in college and there was a large quantity of alcohol involved! Just classify it as one of those "good idea at the time" things.

All those are oil based lubes, and it is the oil that destroys latex. I just use that slimy stuff that looks and feels exactly like pre-cum.
