a technical offering: I have had good results with gMail handling large attachments. I have not send media files but I have dealt with killer (three to six meg) PDFs. However if you are a gMail user you should be able to get a Picasa account and can upload media files sharing the grotesquely unique URL only with selected persons. The storage limit on Picasa is something like one gig and then you have but one file transfer (the video streams to the viewer from the Google site).
