Lyrics: Say what?

"With the venomous kiss you gave me, I'm Killing Loneliness" is the actual lyric.

My son sings it as

"With the very last kiss you gave me I'm killing lonely men."

The song is Killing Loneliness by HIM. Also constantly screwed up in my house:

"Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces in pieces on the ground"
becomes:
"Sweet dreams and fried machines are pieces all around" James Taylor/John Denver - Fire and Rain

"High on the ridge in a race with the wind"
becomes
"High on a pipe while I'm drinking the wind" JOhn Denver- Eagles and Horses

And it took an entire week for everyone in the house to figure out that what Ian was singing was NOT

"Rip out the wings of a butterfly made of stone"
it was:
"Rip out the wings of a butterfly for your soul"

I am laughing so goddamn hard my belly hurts and my eyes are tearing.
Thanks.

My sister insisted that the lyrics to Shaggy's Jump and prance

were not

oooh ba lah -jump and prance.

but

ooh ba lah -Jumbo bras

:D

And my dad once over heard a little lad of about 8 singing his heart out.

"Dan, I wish I was your mother."

instead of "Damn, i wish I was your lover"

:D

I love this kind of thing too :)

What's weird is that Springsteen's lyrics are "Cut loose like a deuce...", but I think Manfred Mann Earth Band were singing "Revved up like a deuce..." (a deuce is a two-seater car, especially '32 Ford "Deuce Coupe").

One that I never knew until quite recently was in "All Along the Watchtower"

The real lyrics are:
Businessmen, they drink my wine
Plowmen dig my earth.

I always thought it was "Plowmen dig my herb."
shows where my mind was at...

Hymnal

Small children are easily confused by hymn lyrics in churches.

Many a child has wondered about:

"Gladly, my cross-eyed bear" [Gladly my cross I'd bear]

and gleefully sung

"While shepherds washed their socks by night" [watched their flocks]

Perhaps it is the imprecise diction of their elders that caused confusion.
