Major Malik Nadal Hasan.

As I posted in another thread, this makes me sick. I grew up on places like this. My dad was the everyday sort of soldier this fucking shitcake targeted. I have friends in, and out of, uniform that served at Hood.

Sick, just sick.

OH my ass. The media would be all over someone saying Praise Jesus.

Horseshit! Building blows up and people weren't even LOOKING for anyone like that for days, because they were so damn sure it was terror from overseas. Janet Napolitano practically loses her head when she points out dangerous Soldier of Fortune whackjobs have been shooting more people in the name of Jebus lately.

Sadly it's a fact. But who cares.

Anyway, it still seems like, news out of FL, it's your *fired co-worker* who's still plenty likely to shoot you in the head.

These people have been blowing up countless shit everyday for the last twenty years. They earned the reputation.

So WD, if this guy has been radicalized his whole Allah Akbar existence, how'd he get to be a Major. Treating PTSD cases.

If the Islamist stance isn't part of an obvious burgeoning landscape of insane in the membrane, how'd this one get in?

Right, that's my point. All of the focus on what he said and the fact that he is Muslim is because people equate all Islam with violence.

I don't know why he did it. Might just be that he went insane. However, the FBI was watching someone post some pretty weird shit on the internet and they think it might be him. He was enlisted for nine years. Not exactly the officer and gentleman type.

And my point is wait until the hard facts are in. They don't know if that poster was the shooter.

I've got a brother currently stationed at Hood. I about had a heart attack at work last night when I got up to the breakroom for my dinner break and this was the lead story on the news. My heart didn't stop thundering in my ears until my brother picked up his phone and told me he was o.k. and that they were pretty much locked at the moment so he was stuck twiddling his thumbs and waiting to be able to go home.

My heart goes out to every other person who had one of those moments yesterday and even more so to the ones who weren't as lucky as was and instead got the news that their loved one wasn't o.k.

As for why this SOB did this...I don't care. All I care about is that this F****** coward walked in and had no problem killing and injuring 43 people. People who he mostly likely knew and had possibly even treated himself. WHY he didn't doesn't matter...only that he did. If he's in the hospital and not dead, as reports now claim, then I hope they try is ass for treason and shoot the SOB.

No arguments here. There aren't a lot of people who need to fry, but he's up on my list.

I can get there pretty quickly in any case where someone is dead. I don't really care why the guilty party killed someone else, only that they made the choice to take another person's life....I just don't have enough compassion to care what the "Why's" are.

I read a bit about the cop that stopped him. She is pretty bad-ass. It is fortunate indeed that she was as close as she was.

I'm not defending Hasan's actions. I am only concerned for innocent Muslims.

The same people that have no second thoughts about using an image of the massacre at Dachau as a means to dicsuss healthcare aren't going to have any problems using this for their political ends.

You seem grumpy. It's Friday. Have a glass of wine or something.

I didn't think you were trying to defend him, sorry if I came across as accusatory, didn't mean to be.

I do know a couple of people (can't stand them) that would be though. The sort that are always going on about a person's actions aren't really their fault because XYZ happened to them when they were 2. I never could quite decide if they were simply overly-compassionate or just plain 'ole stupid. Which way I lean sort of depends on my mood.

Nah, I was just saying.

I am interested in explanations for behavior and psychology, but I don't see that as excusing responsibility.

Yeah. That is off-pissing. Media exploitation of fear and ignorance is just sickening.

Agreed.

Though it's also a catch-22 situation at the same time. The media wouldn't do it if the public (in general) didn't suck it up so damned well.

Why not both?

Pretty much. I'm always interested in why, as long as it's not wrapped up in 'not my/their/your fault'.

Agreed.

Always my feeling on the issue. It's a 50/50 thing. They're to blame for exploitation and we're to blame for continually being exploitable.

U.S. intelligence agencies were aware months ago that Army Major Nidal Hasan was attempting to make contact with people associated with al Qaeda, two American officials briefed on classified material in the case told ABC News.

Sounds like he went over the edge a while back.
