If you find this situation unacceptable, the solution is to make all campaign spending illegal. Make it like in France, where every candidate gets an equal allotment of free television time. Then they would not need donors, therefore would not need lobbyists.

And it would at least help put an end to our present plutocracy/oligarchy, where the rich wield political influence far out of proportion to their numbers -- I have seen some PBers deny the EXISTENCE of that, but I have never seen any deny it is INTOLERABLE if existent.
