Rogue

I nod and grab him under the arms and head towards whatever was tearing up the street. Coming close to it I swing down and drop Wolverine close enough so that he could attack but far enough away so that he couldnt be attacked first.

Flying up and away, I maneouver towards the back of it, waiting for Wolverine to make the first move before I dived in.

Wolverine

"Okay you thing, if it's clobbering time why don't you get a piece of me." I say before landing in a crouching position.

He lunges at me, but I side step his attack and slash my claws across his arm. As he recoils in pain, I see Rogue getting ready to attack from the rear so I try to keep his attention.

"What's the matter Thing, can't take the heat in the kitchen? Some Things can dish it out but just can't take it." I say to him trying to make him angry.

Mystique and Rogue

The Thing that was facing Wolverine growled low in it's throat as it started to lunge for him again. Suddenly it was taken off it's feet as Rogue slammed into it's back. The woman rammed into the false Thing as hard as she could and the momentum took it across the street and into the side of a building. Then through the brick wall to disappear as rubble fell around them.

There was silence for a moment as the dirt and dust cleared away and then a very shaky Rogue stumbled out of the mess to fall to her knees coughing and choking.

Cable

I slowly nod at Psylock and Bishop. "what do you mean, bigger then Mags. and if the Skrull are involed it is defenitly going to be big. we need to contact the others."

Tag Bishop or Psylock

Elektra. Storm.

STORM:

I took Spiderman's hand. Bringing him into the whirwind we went off. Our conditions sad at the most.

Lightening flashed in my eyes. "It is not a weakness to be given help Spiderman." I knew he was thinking something of the sort.

Uttering to the wind, I asked for a hurried pace. WE landed with a gusto in front of the University.

"I know no one is here, but the lab is open for us to use, we can figure something out."

Opening the doors with the winds, I felt too weak to use my body, but my mind could control whatever I needed.

Taking his arm, I put it around my shoulder, "We are a pitiful sight of mutants." I smiled.

We made it up to the lab, how, I didn't know.

There, Spiderman sat down at one of the tables.

I slowly, but surely, walked over to him, "I hope this is of no embarassment to you SPiderman, but I need you to remove your upper clothing, I have to place these on you for the treatment chamber to work."

I smiled weakly. I wondered who was beneath that mask, was his face as determined as his will? But mutants had there reasons.

"Thank you for all you have done, I don't know how much more I could have handled." I looked ashamed. For never, have I admitted my weakness of will.

I placed everything where it should be. NOw I would have to wait for him, I couldn't leave the chamber unattended, I would have to just watch. It at least would give me time to research Magneto's latest turmoils.

ELEKTRA:

I sneered, if only I wasn't caged.

I saw the bubble descend. It fully encircled me, Taking out my sai, I tried to cut through the impenetrable material.

I couldn't, "your honor is not in your fighting, I believe you have no honor at all."

I said, as the smoke filled the room.

Kneeling, I slumped forward, The pungent gas filling my lungs. I coughed, the gas should have taken effect by now.

I couldn't stop coughing, my body was willing to fight, but killing itself in its pursuit of life.

I could no longer breathe. Something was wrong.

I clawed at the chamber walls.

I couldn't breathe, nor was I falling asleep.

Bullseye:

Tapping at the thick glass of the bubble around Electra's cell, Bullseye shook his head. He lifted the intercom device to his lips. "You really should have called Kingpin when you had the chance... Quite dissapointing I must say..."

Elektra

I managed to utter, "you know that you will die..."

There was something wrong with the gas, I didn't think he realized it yet, the effects should have long started.

I reached weakly to my back pocket, grabbing my communicator, I pressed the tiny red button. It was my S.O.S. call, the button no one ever pushed, but if I was going to die, I was going to force Kingpin to kill Bullseye. I knew Kingpin wouldn't allow him to live. Ever.

"I can't breathe..." I said more to myself than to anyone (hey, the damn people talk to themselves a lot...)

I felt the last of the air being pulled from my lungs. It wasn't a slumber, it was a death.

I wanted to scream to him he was stupid, inferior, incoherant.

All that I felt was blackness and the tightening in my chest that felt like death falling upon me.

Bullseye:

"Good night sleeping beauty." Bullseye mocked Electra as she collapsed. He pressed a button and the gas was sucked from the cell. Another button press and the glass casing lifted as well. He came around to the cell's door and swung it open.

Kingpin

Bullseye's cellphone rang. Upon answering it, he was surprised to hear the voice of Wilton Fisk, the Kingpin. "Bullseye... I grow tired of watching you play with Elektra. I'd so hoped that you two would resolve your differences amicably... Do not release her from her prison. In her current frame of mind, one of you would have to kill the other, and that would annoy me. I will be there, in person, shortly."

Spiderman got out of his tights. He took one arm, and then the other out. The top part came down to his lap, where he let it lay there. He wasn't very embarrassed, in fact he wasn't very much of anything. Things were going by in a daze, almost as if they weren't real. He wasn't sure if this was even real.
Sotrm was here though, and she was real enough. It looked like she needed more help than him though. His mask stayed on, he was almost ready to show her what was behind it, maybe let the secret pass between them silently. She would know who he was in a second, just like Rogue, but his spider sense went off faintly.
He knew he couldn't, one person knowing was already two too many.
Spiderman looked at her, "As soon as we're done with me your next. I am not an expert on medics and things, but I know enough to get by, and you could help me with the rest.
He looked intently at his body. He had been dead, he was sure of it. Mutant powers or not Rogue had killed him... No, that wasn't the truth he had killed himself, for Rogue.
If only he had thought it through, but even after playing it hundreds of times in his head, he knew that there was a choice. Rogue's life or his own. He held both in his hands, it was his choice who he wanted to give up.
Besides, he couldn't even fly. She would have a better chance defending the universe, webbing or the touch of death, which super power would you like little Jimmy?
Spiderman smiled faintly. Storm had helped save his life, for that he was eternally grateful, but all of this came back to the immortal question, should he even be a superhero anymore? Back there one touch and he was out for the fight, no one had ever done that before. Was he losing his touch? Was Spiderman just a forgotten hero, only sticking around because people kept reviving him.
He was too tired to answer any of these questions, but he would get back to it later. For now, he needed Storm to help him... again.

Storm.

I wish I could see the disdain in his eyes, I knew from the lack of motion that he must have been thinking..."Enough luv, just rest, and you don't worry about me at all. I am not your concern. I wanted to thank you greatly...I can never repay you...for all you have done."

I smoothed my hand across his forehead, flipping the switch, the machine began its task of healing.

Bullseye:

Bullseye smirked and gave a small bow. "Thank you sir." He said simply. He clicked the cell phone off and stepped back to the collumn he had been leaning against not twenty minutes ago, in wait for Kingpin to arive.

Wolverine

I rush over, and help Rogue to her feet, "Are you okay?" I ask, as I brush rubble off of me. "What is the next plan you have boss lady?"

Mystique and Rogue

Rogue got to her feet and pulled away from Wolverine before realizing what she was doing. Flashing him a half-hearted smile, she said,"Sorry, still dazed a bit. I think we have to get out of here. I dont know what that thing is but we need to stop it. I'm going back in there and finish it off. I hate to but it has to be done and I think I know how."

Looking at Wolverine, she said,"Go find the others, if there are any more of these things we are going to need all the help we can get."

As he started to protest, she brought one hand up to place two fingers on his lips, her flesh brushing ever so lightly across them but enough to still his words. "I am a big girl and can take care of myself. We need the others now more than ever."

Turning from him, she walks back to the hole in the wall that the two fighters had made, an odd glint in her eyes and a half smile on her face.

Wolverine

*Sniff, sniff* "Hold on darlin' something's up." I run behind her and push her against the wall.

Extending the first and last claws of my right hand, I punch them deep into the wall, metal squeeling against the concrete, her throat in between them. "Is that you Mystique? I want answers now, or you get claw number three." I say with a snarl.

Mystique and Rogue

A smile comes to Rogue's face and it is definately not characteristic of her as it has an evil twist to it. "Stupid mutant," She said with a hiss,"You still dont get the big picture do you? You're time on this earth is almost over. Events have been put in place that you cannot stop! This time I win!"

A moaning comes from the rubble in the building and a movement comes from just beyond Wolverine's vision. Taking advantage of the distraction, Rouge brings her arm up and into Wolverine's chest only the arm that hits him is big and orange and feels like a brick wall against his ribs.

The impact causes him to be flung back, his claws coming loose from the wall with a screetch and his body coming down hard in the street. When he recovers, he will see Rouge standing at the new entrance to the building. She is leaning against the building with one hand and looking at him with what seems to be concern in her eyes.

"Logan, you okay?," She says in a breathless voice,"What happened?"

Wolverine

Shaking my head I look up and see Rogue standing there.

"Yes I am okay, or atleast I will be." I say, I can feel the cuts closing as I speak. "Now I want to know what the hell happened in there. We are dealing with Mystique and Skrulls? My nose is going to get a fucking work out until this is all over with." I say.

"Oh well, bring them all on, I have a big enough can of whoop ass for every single one of them, especially after what they did to Storm and you, Rogue." I tell her as a small smile crosses my lips.

It took a while, but he did feel better. Well, stronger at least. His state of conscience had not been deterred, the deadly experience left him with little humor and even less confidence. He wanted nothing more than to crawl into bed and sleep for days.
There were still things to be done, however. He quickly put on his suit, wondering if their might be more treatments later. His could wait though, she was barely able to stand. His arms clasped behind Storm, and he helped her onto the small bed. A few wires here, and a small lever pulled. That was all, tis nothing more than that. She was so frail and helpless there, gosh the poor thing. In truth, she must have been more hurt than what was originally seen.
Spiderman waited, hoping something would make her snap out of it.

Rogue

Rogue shook her head and then held it as it brought on an immediate and pulsing headache. "I hit it and we went through the wall. But whatever it was recovered-fast and I was hit with what felt like a ton of bricks. I pride myself on being a tough gal but that floored me and then I was held there. It was as if I was held in place with some invisible bonds and I couldnt move."

She looked over at Wolverine, a puzzled look creasing her face. "It didnt lift until I heard you threaten my double. And then all of a sudden I could move. Apparently not fast enough though because she is gone."

"One thing does bother me though. Logan, you know that I was trained under Mystique. Hell, she was almost a mother figure to me. I know her and I know her power-she can change her shape to exactly match whoever she is imitating but she cannot use their powers. Not unless she has gained a new mutant power since we were last together."

Wolverine

"All the better reason to find out what is going on. T he sooner we solve the problem, the sooner our lives return to normal." I tell her. "Normal, there is no normal in our lives Logan." I think to myself.

"So what is the plan now boss?" I ask.

Rogue and Mystique

"Normal?,"Rogue let a small laugh escape her lips before she sobered,"Well, the first thing we do is find someplace with a TV. All the news stations-that are left standing-are going to be covering this. I want to get a feel for what is going on around us before we attempt to do anything else. We might even find a few answers as the newscasters can get to places we mutants cant hope to go. For even more obvious reasons now."

Shaking off the pounding in her head, Rogue grabbed Wolverine around the waist and headed out over the rooftops of the city buildings, looking for an apartment or house that was deserted and had a working television. Upon finding an apartment house close by where the people had fled in terror, she flew into an open window and headed over to turn on the TV hoping beyond hope that the power would not have been affected by the rampage in the street. With a sigh of relief, she saw the screen flicker and light up. Now to find a news program.

-----------------------

Meanwhile, as the two fly away from the destroyed building and out of sight, a form begins to become visible, as if a shield of invisiblity had been drawn over it. Mystique stands on the rooftop and looks at the two dissappering figures a smile on her lips and a glint in her eyes.

Wolverine

I reach down and stop Rogue as she goes to change the channel. "Hold on, Did you say you felt like you were held in place invisibly while the other Rogue spoke with me? Damn, if what I am thinking is right, we need Reed Richards help. Rogue, get us to Fantastic Four Headquarters, and hurry." I snap to her.

Bishop

"Cable I have been try to reach any of you. When I got here and found there was no one here . I thougth you might have been killed. So I sent out a commucation try to reach any of the X-Men but noe responded. I had assumed you where all dead. Then I seen you and Psylocke.Cable see if you can get in touch with any of them."

Rogue's hand paused as Wolverine's came down on it and she turned to look at him. Seeing the urgency in his eyes, she asked no questions but again put her arm about his waist and headed out the window and towards The Fantastic Four's Headquarters.

As she flew, she noticed people pointing, gawking, yelling and talking to each other as they gazed upon them. This was turning into a mutant panic wave and that was not good at all. It seemed like it took forever to get to the top of the tall building that housed the Fantastic Four but finally they were there and she was landing on the balcony outside of the apartment that served as their headquarters.

Putting Wolverine down, she looked over the balcony at the people who had gathered there and were watching them. "We better get ourselves in and out of sight," She told him,"I think The Thing's fan club is outside and I dont think they are exactly looking for autographs."
