A midwinter's day rant
Growing in the San Francisco area, I almost never saw snow except on the occasional family trip to Yosemite or Lake Tahoe. When I moved to DC, I looked forward to every major snowfall. I would revel the look of the street covered in a pristine blanket, with all sounds hushed by the lack of traffic and the noise-absorbency of the newly-fallen flakes...
So this winter, I've had the following happen:
- Pipe froze and burst, flooding my basement
- Windblown snow got around the caulking of my home's facade, then melted and caused my ceiling to crack and dripped on my hardwood floor
- Kids have been home from school, which with the newborns makes life hell.
- Took me 90 minutes to drive from Rockville to Bethesda.
God-damned, fucking snow.
