Dude...my sympathies. I've got friends who were all ready to muster out, and then were told "No thanks--you're still needed." I've seen a lot of analyses wondering if we really have enough personnel to support a prolonged action, especially if North Korea heats up...sounds like everyone from active duty to reserves to even National Guard personnel are fair game for being called to the Gulf.

Good luck to you, and to all of our friends and family who may be in service and combat.

Yeah, from what I understand they aren't letting anyone EAS (End of Active Service). Well we will see what happens but thank you for the support.

I was thinking of joining the reserves after I got out but I really have too many financial obligations to make that sacrifice again. I hope you can stay put, but if you have to go, you have my full prayers, support and respect, devil dog.

Speaking of that Beth, I called my reserve Master Gunnery Sergeant and told her about my condition. She told me that they could still call me to active duty with only 10% disability. I'm beginning to wonder if the VA is not doing the surgery only cause they know then they would have to give me more disability.

Well hello all (Beth, Deb Watergirl, Waverlygirl ,Princess, Silky, Jack, Roman, MOZ, CaptainJack, Nic, Pagan and anyone else I might have missed) , hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather this weekend. I went out a little bit and enjoyed the weather and then saturday night went to a bonfire. That was a lot of fun.

Sunday I watched the Terps (the number six seed in the south) beat Xavier ( the number three seed) 77-64. Next for the Terps is Michigan St. on friday at 10PM.

Officially glad spring weather is here.

(Go VA TECH Football) I don't do college basketball much...but I hope Maryland pulls it out for all you fans...

I spent this evening with my son. It was so beautiful outside that we went and played putt-putt (I won, but I didn't damage his psyche for the rest of his life, so those of you who were getting readly to scold just save it.)
anyway, then we went out to dinner, and I just thoroughly enjoyed myself, he's such a wonderful person, fun and witty, intelligent, and just a great "date"!
so lavish some extra time with your special people, just in case you have to go, OK?

Nah, litigation wouldn't be worthwhile--maybe I'll ask for binding arbitration

There's been occasional talk of a Maryland 'Lit-together'--there was a DC one back in October--but so far little more than that. The only conclusion seems to be that if we meet, somewhere near Baltimore is likely to be the most convenient for everyone.

Again, if someone were to step up and volunteer to propose some dates and times, things might begin to happen (hint!)...

I just found this thread a couple of days ago, but I've met many people from chat rooms and bullitin boards, I go back to the pre www days of telnet and such. Meeting a group is always a fun. One on one is less "thrilling" most of the time.

That said, I've also had a few face-to-face meetings with on-line friends--some kind of party (like a dinner) would be fun!
