Maryland

Work is always getting in the way of fun it seems. I would be a great rich bum.

Do ex-Marylanders count? Grew up in MD. But that was a long time ago. Before Gore invented the internet. Now live in FL

I’m also a former Marylander - college and first jobs in and around Baltimore. Now across the river in Northern VA. Also a guy (but you probably knew that :)).

I am embarrassed to say this but I went to that disaster of a game last Saturday at Maryland. 54 to 3. Only got to half-time before a bunch of us retreated to the bar at the Marriott conference center next to campus. At least the sights at the tailgates were interesting. Seems really short dresses and short shorts are in this year.

So you are saying it was a good game then!?!

The tailgate was great for obvious reason, the actual game not so much. In the future I believe I will limit myself to just attending the tailgate and not the games. That will save me a lot of money. I did hear that Bentleys was hopping on the Friday night before the game with talent but I have not been there in 15 years to confirm.

Back from some travel, great to see some activity here, and great to see your name pop up StarGazer! As a fellow Terp, the football team's disastrous season sickens me to no end!

The sad thing is, I live like two miles from campus and I've never gone.

I would encourage you to walk through Lot 1 during the tailgates and then head home once the game starts. Everything interesting happens pregame. I did hear that the crowd in Bentleys was great on the Friday night before the game.

How are things Spurt? In the world of NIL, I don't ever expect Maryland to be a team in contention in either football or basketball ever again. I also cannot believe that the purple line runs right through the middle of campus.

star, star. that’s the only word i’m dropping. also, 54 to 3 is brutal. i don’t think i could’ve sat through that.
The ticket was free and Maryland was holding it together through the first quarter but UCLA finally broke it in the 2nd quarter and the beat down started. Watching the dance team was mostly an interesting distraction. The bar called to me at the end of the first half so did not sit through it all.

It's long past time for a transit station to directly service the campus. I'm excited about the Purple Line, even if it doesn't open for another year or so. 😛

I don't believe a transit line connecting to campus is going to be a good thing but we will see once it opens.

Agree with StarGazer here. I have lived through much of the last five years' construction (having taught on campus during that time). Not only was THAT a pain in the ass, but: the potential for all sorts of people who wouldn't normally be on campus coming in via the Purple Line is NOT something I think most students or faculty are thrilled about!

Report yourself to the thought police for such thinking ;-)

I am not sure what the University will actually report but I will be checking the news to see what goes on after it opens.
