I think you could get away with wearing that to a late dinner. Possibly have reservations at a fine restaurant. Wear a coat outside, but leave it open, slightly revealing your attire beneath. Then at dinner, since it's a fine restaurant, and you have your reservations in a cozy corner in the back, you could give the waiter a bit of a show as your date removes your coat. Since you are completely covered, I don't think you could actually get in trouble. But you could definitely get in to some devious fun.
