It was only a dozen gates until he arrived at 26. It was already crowded but he didn't much feel like sitting. Will found a pillar to lean against and waited for the flight to be called, as he kept thinking that he had made some gigantic mistake. None of the other choices made sense, but to sneak off just did not feel right.
When they called for boarding he was right there with the other First-class passengers. After finding his seat he took a glass of champagne and watched out the window, thinking of nothing except Melody. An hour later he took a second glass, skipped the meal and thought more of the best week of his life. The flight landed at O'Hare right on time. As a way of truly enjoying his expense account he had taken a car service to the airport, even though it was an hour from his apartment. He took the same service back home arriving there at sunset.
Once inside, Will was tired but forced himself to empty the suitcase before grabbing a shower and then crashing on his bed to read through a week's worth of mail.
