Anyone that has medical problems or just wants to ramble about a medical problem this is the place to do it.

I despise an MRI, I've had 4 of them. Makes you feel like you are in a washing machine for 45 minutes. Last time I was having an MRI I went to sleep. Actually slept good in a loud machine.

Hey MacDaddy...:rose:

I hate anything medical being done to me including simple blood pressure, blood tests etc....To the point of panic attacks at times.

And I would be terrible in an MRI I'm sure as feeling I have no control/ can't get away is more than half the stress for me. You have done so well to get through so many!

I hope you don't have to have any more.

Hey lolaluscious,
Yeah, I know people that don't like blood pressure being taken but that's nothing. Neither is getting blood work done. Once you are inside the MRI machine this little vest is put on you for radiation and a cage put on you. Then you lay still for 45 minutes. I did get to listen to music while I was having the MRI's so they don't hurt just having them done is a pain in the butt. I do like the nurses though :D

Sounds absolutely awful. Those radiation vests always worry me.

Lucky you made the most of it with the nurses though...:D Hope they let you choose the music... 45 minutes is a looong time.

It didn't really bother me. 45 minutes is a piece of cake. Have an EEG, that's where they stick these cables to the scalp and I've always had some sexy nurse do that. I made one nurse start playing with her pussy when she felt my hair. She said "Oh, you have such sexy hair!! She then ran her fingers through my hair which made me horny. She ends calling her boyfriend I think while playing with my hair. :D

Thanks McD for the thread... I could rant and rave about medical issues but only from the caregiver angle.

Interesting...I fell asleep whilst undergoing an MRI -I was tired!

Right now I'm in an immense amount of pain. I've got 8 teeth (4 wisdom teeth & all 4 of my 2nd molars) that have to be pulled. All 4 wisdom teeth are impacted, with the lower 2 being intwined in my facial nerves, and 1 of the upper wisdom teeth is just a few millimeters from my nasal cavity, and to top that off the roots on my 2nd molars are all twisted & wrapped in my facial nerves. Per the oral surgeon, worst case scenario is that once the teeth are out, it could create permanent facial twitching, and then an interior hole inside my mouth leading through my nasal cavity...meaning if I were to drink something it could come out my nose (ironically I find this amusing!)

The extractions will exhaust my annual cap of $1200 w/ my dental insurance. My oral surgeon said he will not perform the extractions in his office just due to the complexity and is instead referring me to outpatient surgery- primarily b/c my airway is too narrow and in the event that I coded he wouldn't be able to do anything for me. So at this point I'm looking at over $2500 for my teeth to be pulled (thinking that the tooth fairy won't be leaving that much money under my pillow) so I'm trying to coordinate my health insurance -to cover the anesthesia, and the insurance company is telling the oral surgeon to "prove" what he wrote on office letterhead?!

Ughhhhh that's my rant! ON the plus side I've got a narcotic pain med!

Ah, you had the wisdom teeth out as well? So did I. I was 15. If I remember right it didn't hurt. I do remember before I was out telling the man that took my wisdom teeth out that he was "putting me through terrible pain that I didn't need to be in". I think I cussed the man out and then was out because of laughing gas. I was told "I was a handful". I wasn't in pain though so the man knew what he was doing.

I would say my day consisted of around 50 epileptic seizures. Petite Mal seizures so nothing that I couldn't handle but having these for years is a damn pain in the ass. Damn medication failed me!!!

Hmm...my friend is a hypochondriac. If it's happened to anyone, it's happened to her.

I would say Gelastic Seizures are the easiest to handle aka Laughing seizures. You stare at the wall or into space and you laugh. It's actually pretty damn funny. Laughing seizures are more common in males. If I'm right they are rare.

and no one seems to understand it either
sucks a LOT!!!!!!!!!!!

i do...but then again....I am always overthinking humanaties ability to care or feel,,,,,,,,,,,,,[/QUOTE would understand it

People would understand it if they have a medical condition or a friend or family member with a problem. The some don't give a damn but that's just me thinking out loud.

Take good ol Clonic-Tonic seizures, that effects the entire brain and that's what I have. You have the aura, where you feel light headed or dizzy or you tense up. After that you have the Tonic phase where you can lose consciousness. You can also fall.
Then you have the Clonic phase you go into muscle convulsions which I have done many times. You shake and contract stretching your muscles. You get very strong for a little while. After this you are exhausted. You basically are fighting yourself.
After the seizure you might remember it and you might not.

Mwah Mac...

There are many of us here that deal with big issues, healthwise.

What I will say is this, I've seen more grace under pressure from people dealing with such things than I have those that haven't any health issues to deal with.

I think illness teaches us a lot. Chronic illnesses especially.

I've learned to prioritize. I've learned patience. I've learned that being a control freak is a total waste of time. You sometimes cannot fix what is wrong with you, but what you can do is learn to live AROUND, not through it.

Attitude is a huge part of all of this.

I have something coming up that I'm not looking forward to at all. Now, I could whine, I could complain about it to people, I could chicken out of having it done, at the end of the day, I know it is just one procedure, will last one part of a short day, and well I'll be knocked the heck out so that helps (see that control freak thing has just kind of gone by the wayside).

You do what you have to do, making informed decisions...you see that others have not only lived through your tests, but some have had far worse things to deal with.

There are three women on this board that amaze me with their strength. I see them, and the others waiting for the same tests I'll be having at the hospital and think...by golly, if they can do that, so can I.

I have decided life is sweet if you want it to be, if you let it be. I plan to let it be.

Mac, sweetheart, I hope your weekend is wonderful. I hope life lets you rest from the things you deal with.

Happy 4th my friend.

Writing about a problem is a good way to release stress Kendra. Nothing more nothing less.

I can always tell when medication is running out in my system. I start getting seizures and being hit with them like rapid gun fire. Of course it doesn't last long just a few seconds but it seems like an eternity those happen.

The worst is knowing you have say two hours before the next dosage. I know I have to have to tough the damn thing off which I've done for years but I don't have to like it. Happened to me last night. I just had thirty minutes to the next dosage though. Only one or two seizures. One I had I just about dropped the damn mouse I was using. Then when I came out of it I didn't know where the hell I was.

thank GOD I am a healthy person. I absolutely hate the doctor or the hospital. I've seen a doctor one time since 1986, and that was for a physical. IMO, doctors are for sick people..and I've been sick twice in the last 30 years...

Cowslinger, it's just a screwed up central nervous system. Physically I'm good.
I've met some pretty strange doctors.
