It was the year of Greek Gods and Goddesses;some would say they were pretty fair, but Medusa didn't think so. Of course you wouldn't think it was fair either if your the one who got punished because a god raped you in the temple of The goddess Athena. "It isn't fair" the shouts echoed through Mt. Olympus "Why should I be punished for something that was taking from me?" The question came from sobs and sniffles of Medusa's mouth as her long black shiny hair covered her tear swelled brown eyes.

"Just explain to me why I am being punished I gave up love to worship Athena, and I stayed a virgin it isn't my fault Athena was watching she knows what happened, and just because Poseidon is a god she siding with him that not right I didn't want him." She exhaled a deep breath as she fell to her knees looking around at all the gods and goddess lined up on Olympus.

Her sheet of a dress covering her petite body as you could see the tattered, and tore as she sat there sobbing her hands over her pretty eyes, and her body motionless as she kneed before everyone. It seemed like an eternity, but it was only seconds before she was comforted by Aphrodite as she felt the touch of her hair being brushed by light fingers Medusa looked up as the words formed from the Goddesses mouth "I know what you must feel"

Medusa blinked and slapped her hand away from her hair "You know nothing of how I feel until someone does it to you" Hearing gasping Medusa looked around as everyone had a shocked look on their faces. "If a mortal had raped anyone of you,you guys would send him down the underworld and have Hades torture him for all eternity, so my question is what are you going to do with Poseidon?"

The anger and rage was enough to get up and her hands twitch as she screamed as if their answer was not quick even "Nothing" she heard a roar deep voice as she turned around and heard Zues she turned around and taking her tattered robe she walked up to him with tears in her eyes "Nothing because he is a God how is that fair?" She blinked her eyes and sobbed for a moment and lifted up her long flowing dress as the blood was running down she could feel the hot sticky mess "How is this fair to me I denied him, and he took something away from me"

She dropped her dress and turned to Aphrodite "And you call yourself goddess of love what kind of Goddess of love are you if you don't someone taking love by force" that is when Medusa lost it and slapped her across the face.

Feeling the Iron chains on her wrist as she felt the guards push her down she screamed even more furious ":punish me I don't care anymore I am dead now so it does not matter" crying out of control she heard a familiar voice as she looked up she saw Poseidon as she was forced to kneel to him she turned her head as tears came running down her face. With every emotion running through her body.

Poseidon strolled casually into the hall, glancing at each of the assembled gods and goddesses in turn. He gave a brief hello to those he was on good terms with, favoring the others with a simple, curt nod. His long blue robe seemed to flow like the ocean waves as he moved, their folds shimmering like sunlight dancing on the water as they faded from deep midnight to a light aquamarine and back again. On his shoulder was a great clasp of gold which kept his garment in check, an ornately gilded circle enclosing three prongs of a fork, similar to the symbol of his office and power, the trident. The trident he carried in his left hand, large calloused fingers wrapped tightly about it and clutching it much as one would a walking stick, and he planted the base firmly with each step he took, the points rising to his shoulder and glinting in the light of the sun as it was carried across the sky high above.

He had listened from the shadows to the girl’s account, heard her rage and scream in frustration and anger, vent her bitterness towards the gods and their ‘cruelty.’ Only when she’d brought him up specifically had he decided it was time to venture in, and even then he knew the outcome. The gods of Olympus had done the girl a kindness, allowing her to come there and state her case, though she had squandered it, making brash emotional statements and accusing everyone before her. When he stepped forth and she was pushed to her knees before him, Poseidon looked not at Medusa but past her to Aphrodite, where she stood beside her husband Hephaestus, looking shaken. “Do not let her anger unsettle you, she is young and still know little of the ways of the world. She would not have reacted that way if she’d known better…”

Looking to his brother, seated upon in his usual place of honor at the head of the assembly, Poseidon addressed Zeus, “I’ve come to take her away from here. She wished to plead her case, and she has, and now I believe it is time to end this.” Only after Zeus gave a long, drawn out nod did he turn to face the girl herself. “Come, if you wish to speak with me, we shall do so, but not here.” Reaching out, he pulled her gingerly to her feet, clasping her soft, slender hand with his large, rough one as he led her from the hall. A chariot waited for them at the gates, inscribed with scenes of crashing waves, sailing ships and creatures of the deep. Two large white chargers neighed and whinnied as they approached, and without a word Poseidon guided the young slip of a girl into the chariot, cracked the reins and they took off…

The journey was short, at least shorter than it would seem, and soon enough they had arrived at the palace Poseidon called home. It had been carved out of the side of a large underwater volcano, the walls all being made of finely polished lava-rock and coral. Inside it was impossible to tell one was underwater, aside from the decorations and sea motif, and he let out a long sigh of relief as he stepped into the entry hall. “Come, make yourself comfortable. Servants will show you to your chamber, and I will expect you for dinner in an hour. We shall talk then.” Turning to glance at young Medusa, his deep blue eyes shimmered as he set his face to an unconcerned, nonchalant expression and began to stride slowly away towards his own rooms, his long russet hair just brushing his shoulders as he went.

As Poseidon brought Medusa to her feet she shivered in fear, and anger;she wanted to talk to him,but how could she after what he had done to her. Medusa was not perfect like the gods seemed to be,but she was the closest mortal to perfection so in a sense she could not blame Poseidon what he did to her yet she could not forget. Her only down fall would be her actions and they way she wore her feelings on her sleeve.

Medusa was weary of going with Poseidon, but yet she knew if she did not that she would be turned into a gorgon which then would lead to a life of loneliness, and in her mind she would rather feel Poseidon's body on her and hating life then to be filled with rage, hate, and sadness when she would have no choice but to turn people into stone. Heading out of the room into the bright sun she squinted as she slowly went into the chariot. Looking at Poseidon once and then over the Verizon's as they past over Athens, and all the temples as they entered into the sea.

Sighing as the chariot landed, and she was taken into the palace. On the outside it looked like a crumbled old volcanic rock, but the inside was mesmerizing. The ocean color walls, and the gentle breeze of the wind on the water blowing so delicately as it made a nice relaxing crushing sound as it just seemed to make everything melt. Looking at Poseidon as he spoke for the first time she looked into his eyes they were strong in character, and yet it felt as if they were piercing her very soul.

Nodding her head in a yes position she followed the guards to her room;looking carefully around as to remember her sittings. Noticing the silver armor of the guards with the straps made out of shells. As Medusa entered her room she looked out a circle shape that was used to look out onto the oceans scenery. Standing there watching the dolphins swim by as she smiled peacefully watching them swim and play. It was a beautiful place with the seaweed and all different animals. Life it self, and she wondered how could a man who came from such a beautiful place be such a monster?

Time passed quickly as the guards came and took her to the dinning room, and there was a big table about twelve chairs and a feast enough to feed the entire Athens city. Sitting down she unwrinkled her dress, and waited for Poseidon to join her as she saw him she looked away, and blinked her eyes she did not know how to act towards him she was quiet. Fear, anger, hate, and getting even was the only things on her mind.

Poseidon listened to the gentle tinkling of the bells as they echoed through the large, open halls of his home and set down the parchment he had been peering at and reading over. Standing from the chaise and taking up his ever present trident, he walked slowly through his chambers and into the dining hall unescorted. It had been some time since he had dined with another, and though she may have been spiteful towards him he would still enjoy the company.

None would mistake his chair for an open seat, it was ornamentally carved from the same lava rock that made up the palace itself; expertly shaped to comfortably fit his large frame and made up of carved denizens of the sea. The arms of the left side were made up of dolphins and starfish, while the other was mostly taken over by a large crab. The high back showed a ship being tossed by mighty waves and was topped with a large intricate octopus whose tendrils curled out and down the sides. The entire piece was jet black and polished to a high shine which caught and reflected the gently shimmering light overhead.

As he sat he caught a fleeting glance from young Medusa, across the table from him. There was much in her gaze he recognized, fear and anger, awe and reverence for his station as a god, and several other emotions he couldn’t quite place. He gave a soft “Hmph…” and sat, at which servants appeared and immediately began serving the two before disappearing once more into the shadows at the edge of the room. He began eating without preamble, watching the girl across the table as he did so, waiting for her to speak. After several minutes with the only sound that of clashing silverware and the rock of the sea outside the palace as it ebbed and flowed against the walls, he broke the silence. “Well, girl, now is your chance; why do you not speak?” Arching an eyebrow, he leveled his gaze at her, daring her to meet it.

“You spoke freely before the other gods on Olympus. Why do you remain silent now, when you sit before the one you accused?” Pushing the plate aside, he sat back in his chair and began looking the young woman over, studying her. She was indeed the most beautiful woman he’d seen, even rivaling Aphrodite. She had a temper to rival Hera as well, from what he saw of her show earlier, and a fire inside that burned like Hephaestus’s forge, yet she remained silent before him. He was determined not to speak again, to let her break the silence this time, and so fell to studying her fine features, the fall of her hair, the bright eyes that would not meet his. He saw in her then an ideal woman, just as he had the first time he’d gazed upon her, and though he felt a strong stirring within his breast, he did not act upon it, instead resigning himself to wait until she found courage enough to speak her peace and say her mind.

Medusa sat there for what seemed like an eternity, but in reality it was only two minutes. Taking a deep breath she peered up at him,and looked him in his eyes "Why did you do it,what have I done to you for you to take everything away from me?" She did not yell this time however, she had so much emotion as she asked while making her statement.

She dared not get up she felt rather uncomfortable with the guards in the distance, but still watching she could feel their eyes gazing at her. "You ruined my life for what? So you could have a half hour of pleasure you may be a god,but I will not worship someone so cold, and vile." Medusa placed her hands on the table glaring at the silver as she twitched all these things were going through her mind she really did not want to be there, but she had no choice. She knew if she took the silver and stabbed him she would be punished.

Finally calming down as she waited for Poseidon to talk taking the gold chalice, and drinking the wine made from grapes from the local crops in Athens she knew this taste it was her neighbor who grew them countless times she would help him. Tasting the wine took her back to before she was so angry. Glancing up as she shifted in the chair. It was smaller than his,but it was comfortable. it seemed the silence had filled the air once again, and even though the goblet was still lifted to her mouth she was not drinking. Medusa was smelling the fragrance of the wine trying to stay calm.

He glared across the table at her, his brow furrowed as he steepled his fingers gently before himself, elbows resting on the table as his chin lowered and rested gingerly upon his fingertips. He was considering a response for her harsh, sharp words, mulling a thought around and chasing it through the idle realms of his mind like a hunter stalking a meal. There was much rage within her, that was apparent to even the most blind observer, but he had not brought her there to listen to her fury… He let out a long, contemplative sigh as he regarded her, his gaze traveling along her soft, feminine curves, down towards where they were cut from view by the table between them, then traveling up to her strikingly deep eyes once more.

Those eyes seemed as deep and full as the oceans, and as he stared into them, he felt the wheels in his head grind and turn, pieces lock and fit into place. “Do you like the wine? I had it brought in from a small vineyard outside Athens, relatively near where you used to live, I believe. That is, before I took everything away from you, as you put it.” He emphasized the words the same way she had, and though his voice was low and calm, there was a rumbling depth to it which mirrored the anger and frustration with which she’d spoke. Most mortals, not simply women, would have cringed at that tone, but he saw as he regarded her that she did not flinch or shy away, simply continued to stare into the golden challis before her…

“It is the will of the gods to take what is ours, that which we want and we need. It is not for a mere slip of a girl to question the motives of those above them…” He spoke softly, just barely above the soft ebb of the crashing tide outside the palace walls. There was something entrancing about Medusa, and from the very beginning he’d known that he needed her, to have her, that nothing would be the same without her. The question was, would she understand that? Sighing and falling back into his chair, he placed a large, calloused hand upon his brow, massaging it gently in hopes of warding off the ache which was building in his temples. She could be so infuriating without even trying… Yet that was simply another aspect of the many that had fascinated him, and a wry smile rose to his lips, tugging up the corners of his mouth as he let his gaze fall from her delicate face.

Coming to a decision, at least a temporary one, he fixed her with his gaze once more. “I will give you this night to calm down, and we shall speak again in the morning. You will be shown again to your room, unless you feel comfortable navigating the way on your own. You must know, though, that whatever life you had before is at an end… There will be no going back, now that you have shown your disdain for the gods in their own home. You are lucky I rescued you as I did, instead of leaving you to them. What do you think they would have done, especially after you’d scorned Aphrodite so?” Shaking his head softly, he sighed, “No, I am not that heartless, despite my faults and what you may think. Go, we will talk in the morning.” With that, he rose, pushing back his chair with a great rumble like the settling of tectonic plates, and strode from the room, not sparing her another glance, though she remained ever present in his mind’s eye.

"Do not mock me" she raised her voice as she heard him word what she had said to him. Medusa didn't think she was over reacting, but she kept her mouth shut listening to him intently. she gulped and nodded yes to his question about the wine. "I am not yours for you to take" she waited to say those words as he walked away as she drank more wine.

Finally getting up as the guards went to escort her she pulled away "I can find my way to my room, and if I need to be escorted only one guard will be enough thank you." Rolling her eyes as she fully rose from the seat, and started walking even though they were under sea in the castle she could breath it was fully filled with oxygen. There was a stairway in the hall "Where that lead to?" she asked the guard. As she slowly went up the stairs. Looking at the stairs with each step she took to the next one she noticed different carvings on sea creatures. As if they were telling the story. The banister was cold to the touch, but seemed heated to the touch of her hand.

Smiling a little as she slowly made her way further as she came to a room;she knew she probably shouldn't have gone up there on account as the guard wouldn't go near it,and tried to get her to come down. Ignoring the guard opening the door it was dark, but filled with one table that had a crystal ball in it. Medusa had heard such things, but did not believe as she came upon the ball she seen herself as she was in an unknown place, and when she saw that the gods had turned her into a gorgon she inhaled deeply. Slowly backing up as she blinked. Medusa was shocked, confused for the first time she did not know how to act or what to say.

Running down the stairwell she slid almost into one of the guards, and smiled as she laughed "He knew" she shook her head, and slowly went to her room then gave a sigh. "Why would he save me does he need me that bad?" she said aloud. Pasting back and forth for hours. "why didn't he just ask to be with me?" she pondered loudly as she sighed. Laying on her bed as she twitched getting up as she poked her head out,and walked to the guard "Take me to Poseidon" as she followed the guards she walked to the door balling her fist as she came close to knocking then turned around.

Feeling anxious, and pondered how she was going to ask. Medusa knew she should just go back to her room, but how could she sleep putting her hand to the door she exhaled, then mustard up the courage to knock. Seeing him after the door opened she shook her head, blinked then sighed. "Can I come in I promise not to yell I just need some clarification on some things"

She smiled a little smile trying to cover up her nervousness.

Poseidon strolled idly along the dark hall, the only sound that of his sandals brushing over the smooth stone and the occasional click of his trident as it struck the floor. The gentle wash of the evening tides could barely be heard from within the deeper reaches of the palace, though they began to emerge once more as he climbed the steps that led up to his rooms on the next floor. Normally the walk was quick and short, but that night he took his time, meandering and lost in thought. The girl had no way of knowing his motives, being a mere mortal, or the way of the gods.

“I am not yours for you to take.” She had said, the words still ringing with bitterness and resentment in his ears. He sighed softly, drawing up before the large door to his bed chamber and laying a steadying hand upon it. His head hung, chin resting on his chest for a moment, then pushing open the door and striding inside. His bedroom was opulent, as befitted a god, and decorated with the same motif as the rest of his palatial home. A large skylight was cut into the ceiling, a circular dome through which the last fading rays of sunset glimmered and shone, casting a soft glow upon the bed situated beneath it.

Sitting on the edge, he glanced at the braziers lining the walls, watching as they puffed to life and began casting their soft radiance along the walls, illuminating the room with a gentle glow. Tiny flames licked up from them, crackling and effervescing, bringing a smile to his face. He loved to watch the fires burn at night, they calmed his addled mind and relaxed him. After a time, which could have been seconds or possible hours, he looked up at the sound of rapping upon his door. He strode over and opened the door, a surprised smirk rising to his face as he saw Medusa framed in the firelight and the doorway. Nodding, he stepped back and ushered her inside.

Poseidon took up his seat upon the bed once more, nodding for her to come and join him. “No doubt you have questions; that is only natural. What, pray tell, could not wait until morning, though?” He arched an eyebrow, turning a thoughtful expression on her before rising and walking to a large desk situated against the far wall. A large copper pitcher rested atop it, gilded and inlaid with a scene of a sprawling vineyard, and beside it two cups similar in design. He poured out a large draught of the dark, rich wine in the pitcher into the two cups and brought them back to the girl. Taking a sip, he relished the full, heady flavor of the southern grapes, much different from the sweetness of the wine they’d had during dinner. “Well? You’ve chosen to seek me out tonight, so there must be something pressing. Unless you simply wished some company for the evening?” His mouth quirked up in a half smile at the gentle tease and he took another sip before sitting down.
