You arent an idiot for seeing what he wanted you to see initially.
You clearly have some reservation. Some part of you sense that something was not right that's why you started this thread.
Always listen to that little voice it's almost always right.
I haven't read it but I've heard good things about a book called the gift of fear... it talks about listening when something doesn't seem right...how your intuition is there to protect you.
Sometime in your future you will have an experience in so called real life or you need to make a decision about some guy. This experience you've had here is invaluable because it's going to be the thing you're going to remember when something doesn't seem right.
